I'm planning on getting 2 new Prince cds this week.
I know for sure I want to get PARADE...
but I don't know which of these two should be my other cd... GRAFFITI BRIDGE or THE GOLD EXPERIENCE.

GRAFFITI BRIDGE got 4.5 stars from ROLLING STONE and it seems to be more popular than THE GOLD EXPERIENCE...but sales don't mean a cd's music is better than the other...and PUSSY CONTROL and GOLD are REALLY good songs.
What would you pick out of the two?

GB has joy in rep which is just great,QUESTION OY U... ,Theives in the temple all really good tracks but gold has more inspiring tracks...check out

to name but a few..VERY DIFFERENT ALBUMS!!!

Should be enough on either to keep you going until you can get both, do not stress. If not both just grab the cheapest. GB- the title track is plain awful but there's enough other good stuff on there, though you reallly need the 12" on Thieves. The gold experience is very good. Pussy control is not so great IMHO.

YOU NEED LOVESEXY if you do not have it.

I think I'd go with "The Gold Experience" first as it is a true Prince album and not watered down with other performances (Tevin Campbell, George Clinton, Mavis Staples and The Time all are great on their own CDs, but I have always found their songs/voices distracting on a Prince CD.)

I love a lot of the songs on Graffiti Bridge but, like mariahj said, The Gold Expereince is all Prince so it's more fluid than GB. Get both, but get Gold first, I'd say. IMHO

to be a conformist for once in my life i gotta go with everyone else and say get "the gold expierince" it's sooooo good!

if P got rid of the skits and placed "now" as the 3rd song instead of its unnatural middle of the album spot,TGE would be considered one of P's best.


"Parade" was a bit of a dissapointment for me, but it has grown on me. But its not as good as some orgers would have you believe

The RS review is crazy...GB is ok but not as good as TGE...Parade is better than both...

Get "The Gold Experience". Get "Graffiti Bridge" after you have bought just about every other album.

'Joy in Repetition' and `Still Would Stand All Time' are outstanding tracks. MUST HAVE songs for real fans.

The Gold Experience is also an excellent album. 'I Hate U`' is awesome.

my opinion its one of Prince's best albums

319, Billy Jack Bitch, Eye Hate You, Now, Shh, Gold, and Dolphin are really
stand out tracks. And we can all Appreciate The Most Beautiful Girl..

So buy it and uh, Get Graffiti Bridge next week

GB has other artists since it was a soundtrack from a movie. And other than the Question of U, I really don't enjoy it at all. Have only played it twice.

So GO FOR THE GOLD!!!

Gold Experience is probably the closest Prince ever got in the '90s to the Purple Rain sound; I liked it immediately after listening to it. It took me quite a few years to get into Graffiti Bridge, and I still think there are quite a few sub-par songs on there.


I'd go for TGE.

You should get The Gold Experience. A solid, cohesive, excellent piece of work. His best CD in the 90's, IMO.
