Computer Blue Question....

There are some unsaid lyrics in this song on the Purple Rain CD and I was wondering if they were hidden or not said or on a different version of it. The Lyrics are:
"The Righteous 1:
Poor lonely computer
It's time someone programmed u
It's time you learned love and lust
They both have 4 letters
But they are entirely different words
Poor lonely computer
Poor poor lonely computer
Do you really know what love is?"

they're on the extended version of "computer blue", which isn't in circulation (legally, that is wink). the only official peep of this is on the syracuse '85 (prince and the revolution live) show.

The song was chopped down, again and again to make way for newer tracks on the album, I'm guessing the lyrics were sent for printing before the last chop, or Prince just wanted to include that section of the cut lyrics (?)

Purple Rain would have been a tighter album if they included the extended version of this song. nod

One of the fiercest segments in album history:

Beautiful Ones/ComputerBlue/Darling Nikii/When Doves cry worship

nod Agreed. P shouldn't have cut this song down b/c it was like one of my favorite jams on the album along with the others you've mentioned already.

Computer Blue

Wendy?
Yes Lisa
Is the water warm enough?
Yes Lisa
Shall we begin?
Yes Lisa
Ow!

Where is my love life?
Where can it be?
There must be something wrong with the machinery
Where is my love life?
Tell me, where has it gone?
Somebody please, please tell me what the hell is wrong

CHORUS:
Till I find the righteous one
Computer blue
Till I find the righteous one
Computer blue
Oh

Where is my baby?
Where can she be?
Somebody please, please tell me what is wrong with me
Where is my baby?
Where has she gone?
Somebody please, please tell me what the hell is wrong

CHORUS

Yeah

The computer's on the verge of breakdown!

Come on
Oh baby, don't make me

Poor lonely computer
It's time someone programmed U
It's time U learned love and lust
They both have 4 letters
But they're entirely different words
Poor lonely computer
Poor, poor lonely computer
Do U really know what love is?

(Na, na, na, na, na)
Wave your hands in the air!
Now everybody sing it! (Na, na, na, na, na)
Everybody work out
Work out, work out (Na, na, na, na, na)
Everybody work out
Work out, work out (Na, na, na, na, na)
Everybody work out

He didn't like living alone
The house where he lived had many hallways
It was a long walk 2 his bedroom
Because 2 him each hallway represented an emotion
Every one vastly different from the next
One day while she was with him
He decided 2 name each one
She walked by his side, one hand on his thigh
No - she was sort of half a step behind him
Yeah, the grip on his thigh intensified
As they walked slowly through the corridor
He named the hallway "Lust"
And as they passed through the next one
He named it "Fear"
The grip she now loosened
So he walked faster
Her hands now trembling
She let dropped 2 her side as he wrote the word "Insecurity"
He looked into her eyes and smiled a demon smile
And quickly walked onto the next
Corridor after corridor
He named almost all when suddenly… he stopped
He picked up the word "Hate"
She was gone
So he picked up another – "Pain"

On the verge of a breakdown
What is life without love?
It's hell Computer Blue!

Father, Father, the sun is gone
(Father, Father) The Dawn, the Dawn
Father, Father, where is the Dawn?
(Where is the Dawn, Father?)
(Na, na, na, na, na) {x2}
Na, na, na, na, na

Shall I go 2 church on Sundays?
Shall I stay home and pray?
Shall I try 2 make her happy?
Shall I try 2 make her stay?

Where is my love life?
Tell me, where can it be?

Narrow-minded computer
(Somebody please, please tell me…)
It's time someone programmed U
(Somebody please, please tell me what's wrong with me)
It's time U learned women are not butterflies
They're computers 2
Just like U, Computer Blue
(Where is my baby?)
Chauvinistic computer
It's time someone programmed U (Na, na, na, na, na)
U fall in love 2 fast and hate 2 soon
And take 4 granted the feeling's mutual
(The feeling's mutual!)
We're computers 2
Just like U Computer Blue

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

Fucking great lyrics! If he had included them, I think a whole lot of the mysogeny in Purple Rain would have been forgiven. This song not only acknowledges that side of him, but them condemns it.

Of course, the song is still the best one I've ever heard about impotence!

Question

This is Questions Son Myke and omg I love that song I never knew there was an extended version til around 96 when i was at my aunts house and I heard it and I went crazy it's my work out jam, it jus gives you that energy mainly the break down that was actually included in the Pr Movie where it's Bobby, Brown Mark and Dr Fink playing it, and I agree with everyone it should've been included on the album along with the extended version of Darling Nikki thats jus a hot version mainly with Wendy making that guitar bleed.

I guess I'm "out of it" as far as Prince bootlegs go. I was already 27 years old and married with three kids before I got a computer and the internet. Most of the bootleg info is new to me.

I never knew until now that there was an extended Computer Blue, my favorite song on Purple Rain. Those lyrics are crazy and wonderful.

Let me tell you an embarassing story about that song from my high school days...my best friend and co-Prince freak back in the day, used to smoke a lot of weed. We used to be so high, and be listening to Computer Blue and imagine that the guitar solo in the middle of the song was like a some sort of language, telling the story of Prince and somebody having sex. We based this "stoned" theory on how the solo begins...it sort of teases, then builds way up (like an orgasm).

I don't know. I don't have even have the cd anymore. Like I said, it was crazy weed induced thoughts.
