Howard Stern praises Prince again! On the Howard Stern Radio Show this morning ... (16 million listeners)
Howard Stern and Robin Quivers were talking about Prince being the highest earning performer of 2004. Howard: "He wears strange clothes and all, you know, but ... Prince, I love that guy!! He's so god damn original!!" I can't believe I haven't seen him in concert yet!! Robin: "Oh u gotta see him in concert!! He's amazing!!" Howard: "I gotta see him in concert!!" "All of me give 2 thee down at your feet ...
The reassurance in your rhythm speaks 2 me." -------------------------------------------------------- "I wanna hold U, wrap U up in lace. And I wanna kiss U, kiss U all over your face."

Me tooo~!
Also, everytime Howard mentions Prince he sounds really really passionate. On many occasions he said Prince is his favorite artist and Purple Rain is his most fave album. It is good to see so much positive press, right? "All of me give 2 thee down at your feet ...
The reassurance in your rhythm speaks 2 me." -------------------------------------------------------- "I wanna hold U, wrap U up in lace. And I wanna kiss U, kiss U all over your face."

Howard is a only a die-hard fan of women (like P) and not really music like gary. He's only digging P now cause he's hot. He's a big trend follower, but giving props is always a good thing.

Howard has always considered Prince a genius even before his "comeback" last year. spelling edit [Edited 2/9/05 8:43am]

When you say that it shows that you don't know much of Howard Sterns history & are only spouting off because you don't seem to like Howard.

I was a contributer to the (R.I.P.) Howard Stern Bulletin Board, and I struck up a conversation with Howard about Prince. I actually sent Howard an audio copy of "The undertaker" I'm not sure if it ever got to him, though. Occupy Alphabet Street!

I'm a fan of howard, but for around 7 years up to the rave era he was shiting on Prince, probably because of the symbol. Gary and fred are way more into music then howard is. Won't you admit that as a listener? Howard sometimes can't even remember the shows he's been at.

When you say that it shows that you don't know much of Howard Sterns history & are only spouting off because you don't seem to like Howard. I gotta disagree. During the whole days, he repeatedly mocked Prince, calling him "The Artist Formerly Known" and things of that nature. During P's press conference to announce his changing his name back, Howard sent Stuttering John to ask stupid questions. Over the audio of the press conference, Stern kept making quips like "doesn't he know no one cares? He's a has-been. He hasn't made good music in years" and other such insightful comments. He's said many times that he thinks Prince USED to be a genius. Now, I have no problem if that's Stern's opinion. He's free to have it. BUT, to start acting like he just LOVES Prince, and has been a fan forever is just bullshit. He's jumping on a band-wagon, since Prince is now "in" again. I have nothing against Stern. I'm not a fan, but he has amused me in the past. I just have to admit that he sounds anything but genuine. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I've read many an orger's comment that was almost identical to Stern's. I've listened to Howard nearly every day for around the last six years and in between the insults were many compliments as well.

Just cause he thought P was a has-been for a while doesn't mean he doesn't love Prince when he's at his best.
Plenty of die hard fans thought P was washed up as an artist during that symbol period, especially past '96. That doesn't mean they didn't still love the guy and hope to see him do something worthwhile again. [Edited 2/9/05 11:49am] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Even though I didn't care much for symbol-Prince I NEVER considered him a has-been and never labelled him as such. Prince has done a lot of things over his career that made me scream (The botched promotion of "SOTT", his lousy choice and timing with singles) and Prince hasn't lived up to his potential since 1984 but he'll never be a has-been. Has-been status should be confined to overhyped stars who never had much talent to begin with.

Howard has always respected him as a musician (like most people), but he was more of the casual--Purple Rain--fan. I don't think he looks very far for his entertainment. Like most people he only talks about mainstream entertainers. Not that Prince is not mainstream, but the mainstream perception was that he was washed up. That is, until 2004.
He definitely took some digs at him--"The Artist People Formerly Cared About." But as someone else said, that's what Howard does. And that's pretty funny, and it was accurate. But he always followed him as a personality. He even sent someone to the 2000 return of Prince press conference. I think they asked him if he could beat up Michael Jackson. Check this song out at:

Hey, you gotta give Prince his props. He's a freakin' musical genious! This whole "piggyback CD" for attending the concerts totally blew me away. The sheer design of the whole plan was simply genious. Looks, talent and brains! U Da Man Prince!

[Edited 2/9/05 11:49am] I have been a fanatic for 20 years and I never thought he was washed up, but I will say those were not my favorite years of Prince even though I still bought his CD's except for New Power Soul and Rave. I just hated it that he went by that symbol. It was only appropriate for him to be a Prince. I understand he had a purpose for it, but still I was overjoyed when he took his name back. You can love someone and not love everything they put out at the same time. Even though I bought Come, The Gold Experience, and Chaos and Disorder. They are not on the top of my list of all his albums.

Howard loves Prince's old music. I guarantee he hasn't heard TRC, Musicology, or any other crap from the past few years. "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Last year on his show, he played some of the songs from Musicology and I think he said that he heard most of, if not all of the album and he was excited about it. That was somewhere in April. [Edited 2/11/05 8:07am] I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That is a better way of looking at things. I stopped listening to new Prince stuff because 1, it didn't get a lot of air play and 2) I got burned by AWTWIAD. I am not a big fan of the beatles and didn't like the new beatnik style. I never thought of Prince as a has been, he just didn't rock my world at that time.
