Man o man.....I hope you're just joking. Prince's version is a certified masterpiece. That song gets me.....well.....ya know ....everytime I listen to it. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

your dillusional...
Sure Prince's Vocal Performance was pretty good... but the music was farrrrr from being a Masterpeice especially when compared to other works... Sure the Casio sound sounds pretty good on say "White Mansion" or "New World" But on alove song of this Caliber... it feels like their was no effort in it... and it really pissed me off... The arrangements are subpar, Prince had a real chance too show how well he can remake this song... and quite Frankly... It Sucks

i don't think it's brilliant, but i don't think it's horrid either. i think it's one of the more salvageable ballads from 'emancipation', and maybe the best cover song on the album.
there's kind of a cheesy layer of film to that whole album (all three discs of it) that doesn't sit well with me, but once i'm able to go beneath that layer of cheese, there's a lot on 'emancipation' that i can appreciate.

Agreed. both the original (Bonnie Raitt's) and George Michael's versions blow this out of the water. Prince circa 1980s or even circa Gold Experience/Come could've made a winner out of this song, but instead he put that dated synth over it and added that stilted drum programming to it. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

Leasts im not the only who feels this way... C'mon This is Prince where talking about, he certainly could of churned out a better song... Helly You can Give Hammer "I can't Make you Love me" and he could at least make it something half funky... this is just horrible...

I have to agree. There's potential in the song but he doesn't quite make it to me. I always skip this song. Plus, I feel like he's overdoing it with all of the yelling and I love to hear him yell but not for this song. The original is the best IMO. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Let the org decide whether you are a better producer than Prince. Let me guess, you probably sing better than him too.

Relax, im not saying ima better producer than him... i'm merely saying that the song is way below his potential... I may not be able to Churn Out Something Like Adore... But i can make hell of alot better Cover of the song... Give me a Triton LE synth and i'll churn out a better version lol and I can't sing better than him... Not many people can lol
