I watched both of these concerts back to back. I think I liked the Vegas show better although I didn't care for Prince's attitude. He was a little cocky that evening. I liked his attitude more on Rave but the music was just okay. I didn't really care for all the Sly stuff.

I'm still trying to decide if I like the GOTTA BROKEN HEART AGAIN version on one of those discs, I forgot which one. Although I read about THE CHRIST and how some people didn't like it. I loved it. I especially loved the background choir. I didn't like him preaching a lot before it though. He really does ram his beliefs down our throat.

ya know, i just watched the Rave concert this morning and i have no problem saying that i think it's a full-on three-ring craptacular boner-nanza. no sir, i don't like it. yuck. yuck-o. yuck-o-rama!

i can't quite put my finger on what i don't like about the concert, though it's the same (lack of) quality that bugs me about the album. there's something kinda overindulgent, maybe? insubstantial? half-hearted? about both. everything about that album and the promotion of it makes me feel like prince kept starting to write or say a sentence, but wouldn't end the damn thing. not to mention it seemed to be a wildly transitional time for prince, and i wonder if he even knew who or what he was at the time...which might kinda read into the work he put out around that time.

the aladdin show, while the sound and filming of the DVD kinda suck, is far tighter and, in my opinion, far more enjoyable. his darks are darker and his light moods are lighter, and you really feel what he's trying to do a lot more than with the Rave show.

hopefully, the musicology live DVD will put both of 'em to shame.
