One Nite Alone (box set) Hiya ya'll
I just brought my self One Nite Alone (box set) brand new from amazon, well what can i say, This album is amazing! Disk1 i was digging alot, tho 1 of my favourite prince tracks sounded really lame live (Avalanche) But what really got me going, was disk 2, now i heard a lot of hate about disk2 around here, but man! The hole voice and piano i can not get enough of!! It was mind blowing, how good his voice was finly tuned, "nothing compares 2 U" at the start his voice is so emotional, "do me baby" was just fantastic hearing! But the highlight of all three albums 4 me was "adore" this tune is Phat, with a capital P. I cant stop listenin 2 it, tho "joy in R" is amazing, and so r a lot few other tracks on this album, but "adore" is just the greatest! The worse song 4 me on this box set, has 2 be "the everlastig now" Now, 4 sum english fans here mite understand what im going on about. I feel this song songs 2 much like a old programme called "grange hill" theme tune, any1 else hear this? Maybe its just me. Another thing is, the band sounded a little flat compared 2 the 2004 npg, now i know they r near enough the same, but they just sounded like they were missing sumthing, but about from that this is a must have, great album **** Now i have a question, Who is a apart of the NPGmusicclub and went 2 the One Nite Alone gig, and saw prince warm Up before any1 else? It says this in the booklet and i would just like 2 hear what it was actually like! Keenmeister

I didn't but my good friend and fellow Orger Savage did. Apparently Prince came down to get on stage, shaking hands with the crowd and he accidently wacked Prince on the arm.

I did take my mates and ex to one of the Manchester gigs though. I think thats what started us on the rocky road to splitting up. She thought he was very sexy which of cause I did too.

I ve seen him 2 times during the ONA tour. First in Paris and some days after in Zurich. I remember that the soundcheck was the best part of the concert. First of all we were not that many, and then Prince was very relaxed, joking quite often. I was very relieved to see that he was not making the same jokes on both soundcheck. That is what surprised me most: Prince was funny! He was also playing in a very decontracted way. I remember that he integrated one song he was working on during the Paris soundcheck to the Zurich "main" concert. I think he was testing different things during the soundcheck to see how it was working. I liked this "playing-testing-elaborating" feeling. It was like seeing of the wizard is making the magical potion.

My wife and I saw the ONA tour in Houston and went to the soundcheck. Pretty frickin' cool. There were probably 50-60 club members in the auditorium, all in rows 1-2. We were allowed in, and the band was already on stage going through "Let's Work." Everyone, that is, except Prince, who was sitting in row 20 or so by the soundboard calling out direction and checking out the band. It was probably an hour to an hour and a half experience, with Prince inviting folks on stage to sing, and sitting on the edge of the stage and allowing everyone to gather around him for a question/answer session. We were 5-6 feet away from him, max. He talked about what he had done in Houston earlier in the day (visiting a JW church).
After he left to change and get ready for the show, club members were allowed to stay in the auditorium until the show began. Three or four of Prince's guitars were in front of the stage, and anyone could go up and check them out. My wife snuck in a touch of the symbol guitar when no one was looking. There are audience recordings of many of the soundchecks in circulation (including the one in Houston, no less), which can give you a good feeling of what it was like to be there. Shame i aint a member, do U know if he did that on the musicology tour? There was no soundcheck access on the Musicology tour AFAIK. if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

Shame i aint a member, do U know if he did that on the musicology tour? Due to the size and scope of the Musicology tour, there were no soundcheck access opportunities. The ONA tour was much smaller in scope, no stage props, and much smaller venues, which made it condusive to the soundcheck passes. The ONA tour was definitely for the Prince's closer followers, compared to the Musicology tour, which was obviously for the masses and was quite a large production.
