2005 Tour dates announced! I have a friend that works for AEG Live (Concert promoters), and he emailed me today saying that they're going to be handling a Prince tour again this year. He emailed me the first set of dates.
More to come when I hear more. Reno, NV Lawlor Events Center Saturday, April 23 Bossier City, LA Centrytel Arena Saturday, May 7 Oklahoma City, OK Ford Center Sunday, April 8 Columbia, SC Carolina Center Friday, April 13

Seems like an odd touring pattern.
Starting in OK in the mid-west. Then heading east to SC. Then heading west to NV. Then heading south east for LA. Kinda zig-zaggy. Must be some shows in between to make it logical.

kinda sounds like the beginnings of the musicology tour, so it's a believable enough schedule to me...but i'll believe it when i see it listed from the source, natch...

I hope this isn't true. I don't wanna see Prince touring based off his new music. That'll bomb and it'll be embarassing for him. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

what new music? unless you've heard somethin we haven't.... i'm not believing this till i see an official word of some sort, cuz the dates above sound too similar to last year's tour dates.

Anyone checked these venues for other concerts on those dates? That may give us an idea of how right/wrong this is.

Oh I just meant he hasn't made very commercially viable music in quite some time, and I doubt he'd be able to pull in a lot of ppl if he's not playing the old hits. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Hmmm, OK, I'll try it out: Ford Center, Oklahoma City, April 8 - all clear Carolina Center? Does this mean the Colonial Center?, Columbia, April 13 - all clear Lawlor Events Center, Reno, April 23 - all clear CenturyTel Arena, Bossier, May 7 - Battlewings vs. Bakersfield at 3pm. Hmm, with the arena name-change in Columbia and the game in Bossier, I'm not convinced, but, as always, we'll see. The seemingly-sporadic dates help me think it is real, since a full-fledged tour itinerary always seems to be false.

I'm just going by what my friend told me.
He also told me something about it being an acoustic tour. I'm not really sure what that means, though.

Reno has this:
Sarah McLachlan No Video/Cameras/Recorders Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 7:30pm But no mention of what's going on only three days later, Prince?

That's not unusual, though - if a tour hasn't officially been announced, it's strange to see dates on a venue's website even if they have other events posted for later dates.

I went out to tickets.com and checked Lawlor Events Center for April 23rd. It doesn't look like he will be in Reno on that day. Lawlor has the Reno Jazz Festival scheduled on the 22nd and 23rd.

I checked the FORD CENTER OKLAHOMA. They have a date open for the 8th of April and it's a Friday. But no Prince assigned to that date. The seemingly-sporadic dates help me think it is real, since a full-fledged tour itinerary always seems to be false. A major show like Prince would take all day to set the stage and lighting up. There's no way the game could load out and the Prince show could load in before that evening. The custodians would also have to clean the venue in the time period between the game and the concert. If he does go to Bossier City, LA, I guess I'll be making that drive again, unless he comes closer to Biloxi, MS like he did before, but I couldn't go to that one because I had to work that same night. side note: They mentioned Prince on the Today Show (Katie Couric) but by the time I realized it was film of Prince from Purple Rain, ran from the room, looked for and found the remote and unmuted the tv...well....I missed the whole "blurb." It must have been something (?) because then Katie Couric said "...and speaking of pop stars, Michael Jackson's jury...blah, blah, blah,"
Did anyone else catch that this morning and know what it was about or see it? I know I was not dreaming!

He just released Musicology last year and if he was to tour...it'd be almost the same thing. Musicology & the hits. I do doubt this list though...what's the point? He's already played at those places. Now if these were for Europe, I'd be less skeptical. Christian Zombie Vampires

As a resident of Columbia, SC, I would love if he came to the Colonial (not Carolina) Center again. I just am highly skeptical. It would be anti-climatic to have another tour after last year's huge sucess. Let it breathe, dude. Now that he's back in the mainstream, the man should not rush into his next "big thing". He needs to be tactical, to keep the flow going without saturating the world with too much Prince. The man is all about excess, though: he used to be criticized for his volumnious album production and now people would say "Dang Prince again...I just saw him last year." If he were doing the Township (small 3000 seat theater in Columbia, SC) and it was going to be some sort of small scale tour for the man's most devoted followers, that would be one thing. But another big tour! I don't buy it.
I would buy Prince tickets every week if he came to locations near me. But if he wants to keep the good willing going with the general public, he needs to stay home longer and have people wonder "Gee what's Prince going to do next?" All good things they say never last...

Representatives of Sony Music Holland are saying that dates for a concert in JUNE are planned in either the Amsterdam Arena or in Arnhem''s Gelredome.
Gelredome would SUCK majorly, Arena ísn't perfect, but at least I can go home by Metro for a change.
