I'm a newly converted Prince fan, so don't get angry. Has there ever been controversy over how he became substantially more white skinned with Graffiti Bridge and how he made his mother white in Purple Rain and made his dad look like a violent black man? I've been unsuccessful finding this stuff online.

nothing major...its just been fuel for some on either side.....


with that being said i dont think the casting of the film should be taking as a racial statement of any sorts....

and prince's skin tone fluctuates just like most of ours.....ive been accused of wearing make-up during the winter...duh!!! theres less sun out....

so to sum things up...in responce to your question:

damn it..the moment i thought it was safe 2 come out of my bombshelter, another race fight? is this how we're supposed to ring in black history month? (perhaps i said 2 much?)

So why have I never seen him look dark since the 80's if lighting and seasonal BS is all that depends on? That all can't be bad lighting the past 16 years. And he never looked that dark in the 80's. I'm black and lightskinned and I'm darker in the summer, but I know Prince doesn't only allow pics of himself in the winter.
