Yeah, these were a real treat. We didn't have to wait for the next album -- just had to wait for the next single. I bought each and every one:

17 Days... then Erotic City... then God... then Another Lonely Christmas... then She's Always In My Hair... then Hello... then Girl... then Love or $... then Alexa De Paris... then La La La He He Hee... then Shockadelica... then Escape... then Scarlet Pussy... then 200 Balloons... then Feel U Up... then Sex... and some others before and after. Not to mention the remixes and extended versions of the A-sides. (forgive me if i missed something inbetween -- US releases) And then there were the related artists: Andre Cymone, Jesse Johnson, Sheila E., Vanity, etc. and their remixes, extended versions, and B-sides.

really? i didn't know this. doesn't even sound like his '82 stuff, but neither did "How Come U Don't Call..." -- you're not thinking about the other "Girl" song he wrote for The Time, are you?

edit: anyway... anyone know how he was able to create the unique sound behind this song? what equipment or sounds did he use? very cool. fits well with the other ATWIAD psychedelia

There are lots of things going on musically in this song. Lots of backwards stuff. The driving beat throughout the song sounds backwards. It's weird though because it's not a bass drum. I don't know what it is. It kind of sounds like one of the drum hits from Sheila's beginning of TOY BOX but in reverse.

The b-side is so freakin classic. The selection of songs r brilliant. This is one of my favorite CD’s. The 2 songs AUTOMATIC and ESCAPE r ABSOLUTELY classic.
I started a thread about a week ago on the b-side. I’ve been playing this CD 4 the last month. I am totally hooked on everything on it. It’s an amazing collecting of outstanding songs. GIRL IS TOTALLY PRICELESS worship thumbs up!

I've been a Prince freak for life, but I'm fairly new to the whole "ebay" scene.
If you go on there, you could probably find just about ANYTHING that was ever released.

Go check it!

If you want to try something a little less risky, find a good used-record shop. Or next time you go to the big city, check one out -- all kinds of goodies!

Has anyone heard Felix da Housecat's track "Nitelife Funworld" where he rip's off the song "Girl"? I can't get mad because this is one of the coolest I read all the reviews and no one really seems to realize that he took the song...

From Wine-Journal.com:
"...and "Nitelife Funworld" recalls Prince circa 1999 (the album, not the year thank God.)"

-----

From Knight Ridder:
"Prince's genre-crossing legacy is ingrained in ``Nitelife Funworld,'' ``Nina'' and ``Neon Human.''"

-----

A new "Prince" is born.
Felix Stallings’ obsession with Prince is well documented. On this, the follow-up to 2001’s electroclash-defining ‘Kittenz And The Glitz’, he reprises Vanity 6 – the all-girl group seen in the 1984 Prince flick ‘Purple Rain’ – with his own girl group, Neon Fever. Given that none of them have a musical pedigree, ‘Devin Dazzle…’ could so easily have gone wrong. Instead it goes very, very right. ‘Devin Dazzle…’ encompasses DFA-like disco-punk (James Murphy guests on ‘What She Wants’) along with his more familiar ‘80s reference points, while ‘Watching Cars Go By’ and ‘Everyone Is Someone In LA’ are sizzling fusions of punk guitar, lady shouting and Felix’s light synth touch. Meanwhile, Tyrone Palmer, who sang on 1997’s ‘My Life Muzik’, delivers the album highlight, the mournful electro house of ‘Ready 2 Wear’. This Housecat has certainly got the look.

Wow. I have to go back and listen to this one again. I always hated it and thought it was a slice of poo that wouldn't have fit on his album. It always seemed thin and amateurish to me and my gf, but now I'll have to go back to it and re listen.

What is it you like about it? Best B-side of the 1980s? How Come, 17 Days, Erotic City, and several others sort of put that idea to bed. They should have been A Sides, while Girl is best as a B-side, so that the die hards can enjoy it, but it doesn't pollute up an album. lol

Again, I'll re listen to it to see, so don't give me too much flack for having a different opinion! hahaha

"Annie Christian"
&
"Ronnie, Talk To Russia"
Should have been B' sides.....
To me, it didn't fit with the "Controversy" album....
Could've replace those two
with the extended version of "Let's Work".
