Remember how much Prince hyped up Call My Name? Before Musicology came out, he mentioned that this is his fav song on the album, and that he thinks it's one of the best songs he's ever done. Remember that?
Then it ends up being just a straight forward R&B cut that sounds almost exactly like Insatiable. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

It sucks.
I thought it was too much like Man'o'War which I actually think sounds alot better, espeically if listen to them loud--Man'O'War is textured better.

In general I think it's a good song, but it's absolutely nothing special. I think it's a song plenty of other artists could've done. [Edited 1/22/05 14:16pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I enjoy it but On The Couch is the real slow jam for me because it's not forced and restrained where it needs to be ...perfect for the concept and meaning behind the song.

Call My Name is good, because it's got that flavor of old Prince ballads, but here is one place where I will finally say that he doesn't write those like he used to.

It's not surprising Prince liked this song best, he seems to love these syrupy ballads and constantly tries to have hits with them. He doesn't seem to recognise that there have been tons of songs like this and the market is saturated by decent r'n'b singers.

its an ok song but i don't think it should have been a single off the album. How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

I have developed a real love for this song. When he says the line about "how could you think I'd put something in someone that I put inside you?" WOW Do you think the song is about Mayte? Did she accuse him of cheating?

I got the feeling Prince liked the inspiration for the song a great deal and that spilled over into his strong feelings for the finished product.
I like the song a lot...nice bass and piano. And for a Prince album with basically only two slow jams on the entire thing, "Call My Name" and "On the Couch" are nice fits. "Call My Name" is classic Prince bedroom/infatuation/love/maturity talk, while "On the Couch" is much more quirky and fun. The charts? You mean those things that indicate that Ashlee Simpson is good? What's the use of being young if you ain't gonna get old

Oh, btw, I missed all of the hyping that Prince did for this song. I do enjoy Call My Name. It's not I Hate U, but it's better than most of the slow jams played on the radio. What's the use of being young if you ain't gonna get old

I have ears it is not like I did not hear this songs 10 times a day on the radio. Black people loved it and you don't find anyone as untalented as Ashlee Simpson on the RnB charts. I will even give the Rappers more credit than Ashlee.

I did like this song, but when my dad played it for like a week strait the effect sort of wore off... Doesn't it make you smile when you realize no one was there to see the stupid thing you just did?

"Call My Name" is better than "Insatiable" but not as good as "On the Couch" -- imho.

When saying it is one of his best he is hyping the thing and sucking up to his wife. If you were married you would understand. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Call My Name is weak.
Listen to U Make My Sunshine. Listen to his soaring vocals on the final bridge. Nothing on Musicology comes close to that! On The Couch is cool though...

I don't know why you people hold that one up like it's any good Angie Stone is useless. The background/bridge vocals are too fucking loud, the hook is corny. LAWD... . [Edited 1/23/05 3:25am]

I like CMN very much, as well as Musicology...don't remember him hyping the track but nothing wrong with a little straight up R&B (from some's perspective)...even from Prince...right?

I get the urge to play it more than once and every once in a while, but it wasn't my favorite on the album. I like 'The Marrying Kind' & 'Reflection' much more.

[Edited 1/22/05 14:16pm] In that, do you mean it's a traditional rnb song? I think it can be accused of that. Although, nobody does background layering vox the way Prince does, it does almost sound like a Keith Sweat song.
