Rave Un 2 the Joy Fantastic thread I searched and didn't turn up anything primarily on this album (though it's been mentioned a few times)
I got this along with the "RAVE" concert DVD two X-mas' ago. I personally enjoy a lot of the tracks on this (Rave, Greatest Romance, Hot Wit You.) Anyway, I just wanted to get some feedback on what the rest of you think about Rave Un 2 the Joy Fantastic. What tracks do you like? Don't like? Anything concerning this album can go here. P.S: And if you're hating on the album, don't worry. there are some tracks I'm not crazy about either. [Edited 1/11/05 6:25am] Officer Shockadelica; Erotic City's finest, baby.

The title track is about the only track I like. Andy is a four letter word.

Despite it's massive unpopularity among P fans, I've always liked this album. I view it as something fluffy and fun. "Prince Lite", if U will. I think it's got some good songs. Nothing earth-shattering, but certainly better than most of what's on MTV. The only songs I've never cared 4 were "Tangerine" and "Man O' War". Horrid album.
He took one of the most boring previously unreleased tracks and backed it up with a CD full of pap. An exercise in treading water.

Yeah, "man o war" is dull, dull and then err dull.....
I like "Wherever u go, whatever u do".....I havn't listened to it 4 ages though. The title track kicks some funky but though.....I like all the silly noises.....

Rave was such a failure in trying to recapture the mainstream audience. It's an embarrassment with it guest stars...and oh look...Prince does vocals on the first track...oh and it's produced by Prince, too. How cool to have Prince come out of hiding to sing on the opening track of TAFKAP's album. AND...he...put...a...commercial...on...it. *shudder* edit: I forgot to poo poo about the worst part of the album--Baby Knows--which contains my least favorite Prince lyric ever--"She knows how to make U feel like yo stuff ain't brown 2night" Um...eeeewww. It actually gets worse with each listen. [Edited 1/11/05 7:50am]

I just can't understand what the purple hell is the track "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" doing with those tracks on the same album...
(I think it should have rather been on Crystal Ball! )

Um...Rave did not have Santana like comeback success, did it?
Rave was okay (beats the hell out of NPS and The Rainbow Children) but too much filler, a horrible first single, and an apparent quick disinterest from all involved in marketing the project sabatoged it. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Right up there for the worst album cover of any Prince album, too. The man just looks silly in that purple spandex jogging suit. All good things they say never last...

I kind of expected something commercial when I heard he landed a deal with Arista but never that much. When I first heard he was with Arista, of all labels, I was totally disgusted. You know who, Ms. "Rhythmless Nation", has always been on that label and she went for the pop market from day one. I'm so glad Prince is gone from that label. Andy is a four letter word.

i found it a little boring at first , but now i really enjoy it just give it another a try Also on the album cover he's wearing a blue suite , not purple (replying to Gottaletitgo) [Edited 1/11/05 10:33am]

I like most of the tracks on this album, fortunately it's not sucky like most of his current albums. Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Haters are annoyed and roll thier eyes when klhk is paid a compliment. ask yourself, are u a hater?

Every time I hear it now it reminds me of my business trip. I love Rave, The Greatest Romance, and So Far So Pleased. The Sun the Moon and Stars is so cool, I love u but I don’t trust u anymore, hell just about the whole CD. I know a like of fans here think this is one of his weakest CD’s and that’s probably why u haven’t heard 2 much about it. Also they hate on Rave Live. OfficerS I hope u continue 2 enjoy it

I used 2 play this non-stop back in 1999, when it was released. The album wasn't big at all. I played it out so much that it wore out and the cracks and scratches started showing up on the CD. I loved half of the CD, but it wasn't that good. There was just 2 much filler on the album. Now, I wish I could listen to it, but it's very damaged. One thing I can say about RAVE UN2, is that it was a quite embarrassing way for O+> 2 make a comeback as a mainstream artist. [Edited 1/11/05 16:36pm] Check me out and add me on:

I liked Undisputed, The Greatest Romance Ever Sold (the song is okay, but the video is great), and So Far So Pleased--specifically the long instrumental part (the electric guitar, etc.), and Prettyman is fantastic! [Edited 1/11/05 18:09pm]

how great to see -- all of us who worship know CRAP when we see it!
the best track is on Rave In2 (beautiful strange)... that has to be his worst album/album cover ever...hands down! even Prince (eponymously titled) album has a cool Pegasus photo... Rave sucks! [Edited 1/12/05 12:56pm]

I LOVE this album!!! the music is very Up beat and happy , but then again there are songs like "Man O' War" and "Strange but true". To me this Cd is kinda a mosh pit of music styles. It Really Rocks my Socks!!! Doesn't it make you smile when you realize no one was there to see the stupid thing you just did?

The last thing I'm ever gonna call Rave is a great album. Clearly it's not. It's flawed. It's overproduced, and there are some bad songs that made the cut.
The songs I hate on it are Hot Wit U, Everyday is a Winding Road, and Baby Knows. Just awful stuff. It's forgiven though cause I Love U But... is an absolutely amazing song, and Wherever U Go.... is pretty damn great too. The rest is pretty damn solid imo. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
