Daddy pop. Is this tony M's worse moment?

What u think? U remember buying the album 4 the first time and thinking "who the fuck is this" when Tony comes crashing in on the rap at the end of "daddy pop".....I wonder if ANYONE likes that rap.

Tony had some good moments, and his "live4love" rap was cool and catchy. But the "daddy pop" was was pretty terrible. Too much shouting.....

lets relive the tony "daddy pop" rap.....

Daddy pop lead the band
As I step to the mic and lend a hand (oh daddy)
To the funky groove, let?s make the whole house move
Yo band let me hear you say ooooo ((ooooo)) (oh yeah)
That?s right, we?re gonna turn this mother out tonight
We ain?t leavin? ?til they (oh daddy)
Gonna have to turn off the lights
And if they do then what we gonna do?
((trash it up cause we ain?t through)) (oh yeah)
Yeah hit it, it?s time to get with it, huh
I ain?t no angel so 2 hell with playin? innocent (oh daddy)
Those who came to party know just what I?m talkin about
So come on y?all (oh yeah)
Wave your hand in the air, everybody
Wave your hand in the air (oh daddy)
For the funkiest band in the land and don?t forget
The p-a-r-t-y-m-a-n (oh yeah)

Peace (daddy pop) (oh daddy)
Yeah, peace (daddy pop) (oh yeah)
Like I said right about now (daddy pop) (oh daddy)
Npg is like aaaaa (daddy pop) (oh yeah)

Was this one of the first tracks 4 "d and P".....as Tony sounds so over the top he was proberly nervous or something?

The original version of Daddy Pop was SOO much better, it didn't have the rap at all and was so funky. Tony's rap on Daddy Pop was pretty lame.

Really? I think it may of been this track or "live 4 love" that he just kept on piling up overdubs and that would actually make the track weaker and weaker. I imaigne Prince does that quite alot.

in other words, Prince ruins the original sound 'cause he keeps adding shit that makes infact makes the final track worse.

You're right, it was Daddy Pop and Live 4 Love that he kept messing with. But to me the song he ruined THE most was Endorphinemachine, the original version rocked and would have been a classic. Then he released it on TGE and he RUINED it by adding keyboard to the lead line and a (shudders) cowbell! ill

I like the cowbell. It doesn't hurt the song at all.
Plus, now I can envision Chris Walken dancing along to it in the studio. biggrin

Tony M is just awful. His "style" if you can even call it that is so weird.... like he doesn't have a sense of rhythm or cadence.

What's worse, he taught it to Carmen ELectra so she copied it on her album.

Actually Tony wasn't too bad on the original version of "The Flow". Then Prince had him start rapping like Shabba Ranks lol

I think i got that version. Tony raps the bit that Prince raps on the album. U know the "contradiction....." bit. Why did Prince change it?

I know rosie left by the time it was to release the album, but he changed alot of it though.....

Also Rosie has a rap and sings the "rap to the f.l.o.w" bit.

It was great when they did it on the "d and P" tour. Rosie sounding good rapping, alot better then prince. Did they perform "the flow" on the act 1 and 2 tour?

The Flow is a great song, they should have put that on D and P and buried Jughead somewhere behind Paisley Park. They did the really fast version of The Flow and Tony could NOT handle rapping at all live, not that he was good at it in the studio but you get my drift. The orginal Daddy Pop was SOO awesome, but that released version was crap.

You HAVE heard the original right?

No. Actually, I haven't. But since I already think the album version of "Endorphinemachine" is pretty decent, I doubt that the original is gonna suddenly cause me to think it sucks.

I do not like c"rap" music, period. So any lame attempts Prince made, usually do not get set on repeat.

Tony M.'s worst moment, without a doubt was "Jughead" and the re-worked, official release of "The Flow."

The bottom-feeding, craptacular worst of Tony M:

1. Jughead
2. 2gether
3. Push
4. Daddy Poop
5. Gold Nigga
6. Deuce & A Quarter
7. Sexy MF
8. My Name Is Prince
9. Brother With A Purpose
10. All the fucking "Cream" & "Gett Off" remixes with him as the main vocalist

I'm sure there are some I forgot (or just plain blocked out). barf

I just meant that the cowbell doesn't hurt the song itself. It doesn't bother me.
