the ride up front is better when you've been in the back...

Hey, is this a reference to having to ride in the back of the bus pre-Civil Rights, or having been in the backseat of a car making out with a girl?

"I said, the ride is so smoooooth you must be a limousine!"

Haystack

I just assumed that he meant that it felt better to push forward and be in control after being driven by someone else (Warner's?) for so long.

It's about making out or having sex in the back and then after having been fufilled,(hopefully) u come back up front and the ride is much better having got your groove on in back. now, we can drive without the sexual tension.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

don't forget most of prince's sex songs have underlying meaning.
"I have a date with Lisa. Isn't that wonderful?"

Moonbeam

I think this line means that success if more meaningful if you have had to struggle for it. Same goes for wealth. The same goes for "It's flyer to be hungry than fat..." It's about enduring hardship. That's my interpretation at least.

I'm with you on this App7 - and quite frankly, even though there probably are hidden meanings, I like to think of it that way!

it's a close-up of a medusa mask i photographed in venise...

i like it becuz it makes me think of a line from a mary mccarthy story where she speaks of confronting the medusa face of the future... fear of unknown ugliness...

yeah it is kind of scary but for some reason this photo has always been a comfort to me... go figger.
