Ha ha, i love that bit. Did you know Prince was asked to appear on The Simpsons a few years ago? In true P fashion he wanted to take over the writing of the episode. Needless to say it didn't happen. The verses are sung to his woman, reminding her, what it was like during happier times, or what it would be like if they were happy. The chorus is the reality of the song. He's comparing himself to his father, and her to her mother. He's questioning why they're screaming at each other. In otherwords, this is what it sounds like... when there is no peace, just constant fighting with each other. The dove has always been a symbol for peace. If it cried, it probably wouldn't be at peace. And to the best of my knowledge a bird cannot cry the way a human does. Lovesexy Funkateer | |
