DREAM PRINCE PROJECT!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's your absolute dream PRINCE project????!!! My limits.
Mine: Scaled down greasy blues-rock album. Recorded over a long weekend in NYC. Nothing but long songs with just drums, bass, and guitar. Keep JOHN BLACKWELL on drums, get SONNY T back for bass. Record versions of Hendrix classics like FIRE or old Ledbetter songs. Soladeo | |

My dream project: A proper re-release for everything that has come before. The Prince Anthology, if you will. This would include:
-A re-release of every album with remastered sound, outtakes, b-sides, demos, extended versions, original artwork, promo material, and comprehensive linear notes. - A DVD companion for every album that includes every video made for the album as well as a full length concert for the tour. For example 1999 would look like this: Disc 1: 1999 (the original album) with remastered sound. Complete with a full color booklet with pictures of that era, original album cover artwork, and linear notes. Disc 2: Demos, outtakes, b-sides from the 1999 era. DVD: All of the 1999 videos, and one full length concert from the 1999 tour. All in HD picture and 5.1 sound. I understand that this could be limited just to the albums under Warner Bros, or just Prince's "major" records. Also, some albums may have less material. How much material is there for "For you"?) Prince's popularity is peaking again and it seems like now is as good of time as any. Outstanding collections such as this have been made for musicians of lesser stature than Prince. Prince once said that he was going to make a film about blues legend Robert Johnson. That would be awesome. It would have been awesome. WOuld love a box set of dvd concerts. 81 through now. Maybe broken up in 5 year sets. | |

I have a feeling that some kind of package deal like this will some day happen. When Prince is in his 80's or older he'll want to keep his estate making money. The perfect example is Jimi Hendrix. He's been gone since 1970 and only released 4 studio albums, but his estate still makes millions every year on all kinds of re-worked albums. My dream Prince project is the use of the NPGMC for something worthwhile.
Basically the Vault online - every out-take and unreleased track available for purchase, not compiled into albums or edited - just as they are, encoded as mp3 and lossless audio at 2 price points. Just check in to the NPGMC, browse the files you want, add them to your cart and check out. And all tracks come with info on when they were recorded, and for what project (if any). | |
