grandebelle said: TheJourney4all7 said: ![]() ![]() Want to know the secret to Prince's return to pop-culture grace in 2004? Listen to him talk. Listen as he ruminates about his favorite moment in each of the concerts during his sold-out, only-the-hits tour: an intimate acoustic mini-set, featuring stripped-down versions of ''Little Red Corvette'' and ''On the Couch,'' the latter a bluesy ballad from his Grammy-nominated album Musicology. ''It's the first time I've ever been alone on stage for that long,'' says Prince. ''It was truly a challenge to keep the audience engaged with only a spotlight and a microphone.'' He adds as an aside, ''You have to make sure that at all times, your mind doesn't wander off into doing the grocery list for the next day.'' It's charming to hear that a certifiable genius like Prince actually struggles, let alone shops for his own Windex (even if we're not completely buying it). But there you have it: Everything that's been missing from Prince during the long decade he spent off the relevancy radar, warring with his record label and releasing albums saddled with anger and self-indulgence: Humility. Humor. And, at last, joy. With Musicology, a winning exultation filled with old-school soul and old-fashioned monogamy, the artist staked out a flattering new identity: the mature master. On tour, his opening salvo of Purple Rain-era hits β including ''Let's Go Crazy,'' ''When Doves Cry,'' and ''I Would Die 4 U'' β left crowds delirious. Yes, for some it was just a nostalgia rush. But that falsetto, that guitar, that jammin' command of his well-drilled band β the 46-year-old sonic savant left no doubt that he's still got chops. For Prince, the best part of his '04 triumph was that it was all about the music, not about marketing or his celebrity. ''It surpasses the Purple Rain tour. This was self-generated hype: no movie, no major radio airplay or support from the video channels. It was really a testament to live music,'' he says. ''This is what we do for a living. Every night was a stone gas, baby!'' It was for us, too. Welcome back, Prince. Now please: Stay. --by Jeff Jensen http://www.ew.com/ew/arti...0_,00.html [Edited 12/23/04 14:40pm] All of PRINCE'S awards this yr. prove lots of things... 1. People appreciate his musical talents even without the explicit lyrics. His sex appeal reaches further than 4 letter words and grinding the stage. 2. His acoustc set ALONE is awesome as he sings his funky hits in a new way. 3. He mixes hard work with fun in performing. More than other artists! 4. His long awaited FREEDOM finally has arrived. 5. He never went away---he was always HERE, as his hardcore fans can attest 2. He NEVER left music/performing. 6. He hasnt gotten BETTER...He was ALWAYS brilliant, IS, & WILL B, IMHO. He just changes things so we dont ever get bored. He CANT get any better. ALL his work is equally great. None outshines the others & its difficult 2 choose favourites. 7. God has given him a gift y'all...and now hes got 2 use it. NEVER gonna lose it. He's here 2 STAY. ENJOY. The people who appreciate real music & real musicians need not worry. Theres ALWAYS more 2 come from PRINCE. ![]() Beautifully put! I second everything u say BIGTIME. He's too good for mere mortals ![]() Must I become naked? No image at all?

Ahum !!!
He looks like Eartha Kitt in that picture, or one of the transvastites from that Australian movie " Pricila, queen of the dessert" Maybe he should do a cover on CC's Finaly on his next tour !! I like the pic though !! I've always found him rather sexy when he showed a bit more of his F side Mostly because he's got no problem in remaining a MAN !! 2005 looks very promissing !! That's actually one of only a few photos where his green-ish/ hazel eyes comes thru. Most of the his photos make his eyes look darker. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

I can't remember where i read it, but i think it was from Wendy or Lisa years back describing how his eye color doesnt coma out in photos very often. I can't even think about where that quote would be, one of my ol mags somewhere. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

come to think of it, the picture from the early 90's with his hair all blown back out of his face which i first saw in Spin magazine's 10 most interesting artists of the year shows the same thing.
