As a Funk rhythm guitarist, Prince is the best! Seriously he is. ![]() I'm listening to the extended version of "U Got the Look" and I love that little funky riff he adds to the song at the begining. The man is up there with Catfish Collins, Sugarfoot, and Hillel Slovak (RIP ![]() A lot of my playing comes from his style. While other kids wanted to play like Kurt Cobain or James Hetfield, I wanted to play like Prince. I think I've got it down to a science now. ![]() NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

If you can get a video copy of the Dirty Mind tour, you will see some playing in "Head" that will blow your mind.. ______________________________________________

Excellent post. Prince is a legendary rhythm guitarist. His rhythm work on the studio version of DMSR is too funky; and the end of 1999 always blows my mind.

boy, you got THAT SHIT right...that guitar he played during the breakdown of "head" is some of the funkiest sexiest shit he EEEVER played! The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

I'd like to add something interesting to this, but I don't know what. You're just right.
Check out his rhythm playing on one of the Fillmore shows for example (during the "housy" version of Pass the Peas... towards the end, HOT DAMN!). I wish I could play a tiny, tiny little bit like that.

I don't have that one, but I do have a live video from the Controversy tour and during that song he gets down as well. I still get inspired by those funky riffs. ![]() NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
