best album for conversion purposes?

with christmass comin up, i gotta get some p virgins some ill prince albums.

my first album was batman and that worked for me. i think purple rain is too main stream that they would reject everything else after that. and other albums too dirty or experimental.

i guess im lookin for the happy median, y'all.

My suggestion (as this has worked for me with several friends - some of whom actually paid $90 for Musicology tickets this summer they've become so smitten) would be to burn them some mix CDs. Include some hits so they remember how catchy and radio friendly he can be, and also include some lesser known (lesser known by non-fans) but likeable songs such as Come On, Sleep Around, Peach, Billy Jack Bitch. The songs that have worked best for me (the ones that have caused people to comment or name them by title as being "awesome!") have been Sleep Around, Baby Knows, Thunder Let's Work, and Paisley Park.

Have fun!

The Gold Experience has worked on several of my friends. Musicology might work as well.

The Gold Experience usually takes people by suprise. A lot of people have this vision of Prince as being the other Michael Jackson. They don't realise just how "heavy rock" Prince can be (when he wants to).

Basically any album could work. You just have to get the one that shatters peoples vision of what they think Prince's music is. That's how I got started. After just a casual interest, I found that every album I bought was totally different and challenged what I thought his music was about.
