How did Prince do EVERYTHING Right in 2004? What happened? Did he wake up to the mainstream or did he know all along what they wanted?
Unbelievable TV appearances and even interviews??, nice haircut, cool band with no Larry or bad rappers, no preaching about Abe Lincoln or slavery, played alot ofthe hits, even played DMSR! and other clasics for old skool fans, great stage set-up in the round with (at last) an extended acoustic hits set, great radio single, videos and cd, and it goes on and on... Did he know how to do all this all along and just refused? Or did some manager help him become cool to the masses again? It was a long road back but he did it in less than a year.. If you told me last year Prince was gonna be the biggest tour in 2004, I would have never believed you.. I stick by him through thick and thin, but he really got it right in 2004! Cant wait for the Live DVD, I'm sure it will be better than Alladin! ______________________________________________

There where once three.
Prince, Madonna, and MJ MJ is going to jail soon--he's out of the picture. Madonna released a hillariously embarrassing video in which she rapped and a truly aweful series of albums. So that leaves Prince. We needed SOMEBODY from that trio this year. And he fit the bill. Let's face it--whenever Prince has had a hit, it hasn't always had a strong correlation to the quality of the material. But it at least gives him some props. He has a monster hit with Purple Rain, then releases a string of brilliant albums before getting worn out. Then he releases d&p and releases a couple of really good things after that. So maybe after this so-so Musicology thing finally blows over, we'll get something worth listening to. I do long for the Prince of old. We would have already had a new single to a "forthcoming" album at this point.

just goes to show what can be achieved with a record company/promoter behind you !
the album wasnt great ! but it was everywhere for the 1st time in more than 10 yrs his album was promoted properly it was at the entrance to every record shop in glasgow. there were promo posters of p everywhere bus shelters store windows n' even in amarica if you went to 5 p gigs u went home with 5 albums !!! p gotta get praise for gettin his lazy ass in gear , ie; doin all the tv work musta been great to see him on tv so often in the states !!! so there it is even an average p album can get u goin if you promote it ! the tour helped , the tv appearances worked , but in my opinion aided by columbia big time , it was incredible , lasdt year i heard p on the radio every day !!! before that it was 3 times a year ,... remember "dont play me" from the truth ??? rant over sorry !!!

So what makes all that so great. I liked the Abe Lincoln digs, nothing wrong with that.
He didnt come to Europe in 2004 so great for the USA and great for the bank account... did he do something better outside of the almighty $...???

Thinking of the monster hit TGE would've been if it'd gotten the "Musicology" treatment.... The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

The tour, the television appearances, and the threat to never perform the hits again. Other than that, this year is no different. Andy is a four letter word.

But I still have to give Madonna her props. Madonna is still an icon and the CDs she has put out that you call awful are no different the CDs Prince has put out that didn't really sell. What was awful to you is probably good quality music to someone else. I really liked Ray of Light. I thought that was a good album. Madonna is an icon and she is still known for that. She too hasn't gotten caught up in a scandal like Michael and now people view them in a very negative light. If she had gotten into trouble for kissing Britney and Christina on the VMA's like Janet and Justin got in trouble over the Superbowl, then maybe I could agree, but I really didn't think the FCC/media was gonna make the Superbowl incident the big deal they made it out to be. Now Janet really did get caught up in a scandal for the first time. Madonna still has it goin' on. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
