I'm hooked on this song for the last 2 weeks, I guess I've kind of overlooked this one over the years. It really is a mini-masterpiece. So many different parts and such a hypnotic beat and synth line..

And to think he recorded this without today's technology..

I LOOOOVE this song. I remember buying 1999 when I was 15 and being blown away by the entire song. I saw the video on BET when I was younger so I was surprised when I saw how long it was. Just some great nasty cold electronic funk for that ass!

it was my fav song from '83 to '88 -- it has so much going on in it... all kinds of little nuances... and i love what he does with the voices (right, left, center -- doubling and tripling some of the voices) -- i recommend listening to it closely through a good pair of headphones... an awesome piece of music!

I absolutely LOVE this jam! It sounds like it came straight out of the future. I love the ending too, where the song completely breaks down and only the synths remain.

This is the song and video that hooked me into prince for the last 22 years.

A great song! One of his best on one of my favorite albums. Every time I'm sick of the stuff he brings out now a days I pop in this one and remember how good he can be....

My favorite song off of 1999. When i first got the album, it was always one of the first 5 songs, but the last several years i've really been digging this one and don't know how i overlooked it for so long

I LOVE this song! I get it stuck in my head all the time...Especially when i hear the word automatic anywhere - sets off a trigger in my head!
