still would stand all time while listening to the graffiti bridge album for the first time in 12 years (the film makes the music seem worse) this song came across better than the 'nursery rhyme' i thought it was first time.
I think it has dated well, maybe because slower songs do - they dont require the latest production tricks to stand out. Or maybe i like it because it gets me in a spiritual mood, with the swirling gospel backing. Another song i'll play to death. Just wish the intro was shorter. The album is still below average though.

For me this is a song where the bootleg is better than the released version.
The first time I heard it was on Small Club 'Pull a black box of paraphenalia out on U child' And I loved it but the Graffiti Bridge version leaves me cold if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

"Who's the fool singin' 'will'... it's 'would'"? If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Sounds like he didn't try too hard. What's up with the only 7 notes in the melody being repeated over and over and over again? A bit too monotonous for me; though, it does have a cool vibe.

R we talking about the GB CD or the song? If we’re talking about the CD then it is totally underrated. That whole CD is awesome. I love Elephants and Flowers, Joy In Reputation, The Q of U, Release It, Shake, Thieves in the Temple; shit the whole CD is funky.

Prince does find joy in his reputation, come to think of it... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

What pennylover hears on GB soundtrack:
...holding someone is truly believing Theres joy in reputation-- there's joy in reputation... there's joy in reputation there's joy in reputation there's joy in reputation She said lubbb me, lubb me, what she say?
