This may be old news but in the U2 review, the author states that Bono and Prince must have talked since Bono opened the MSG show stating "U2 own our own masters".....or something to that effect

interesting...i remember in an interview with REM, michael stipe mentioned that prince had "the talk" with him about owning their masters...

Yes, I read an interview with Bono a few years ago were he said that he spoke to Prince about the masters and he then went to his manager to see about getting the U2 master tapes back. He said his manager was able to arrange this and he would have never known anything about if Prince had not brough it up.

So all of P's ranting helped U2 and maybe it will help other artist.

hmm...my understanding of it was that U2 had this built into their contract from the being. that's why their royalty rate was so low all this time while Prince's was one of the highest in the biz.
