For me, it was Purple Rain. Seeing him wail on the guitar during Let's go Crazy started it off. The Beautiful Ones left me mesmerized. But when he went to the acoustic piano and just started playing the opening of Purple Rain...I was hooked.


Anyone else inspired to learn music after hearing or watching Prince? What was the moment for you? Which instrument did you pick? How far did you get?

When my Dad asked to buy a CD-rom of Elvis, Beatles or Prince when i went to the states, I only found Prince Interactive, and I played it, when i heard the small clip of Peach live ate Blaiges or something like it, and thought, "I have to play guitar."

SO yes if it was not for Prince I would not start playing guitar that time, maybe i would later, but not at that time.

i used to play drums along with my prince and time albums when i was a kid all the time, but prince didn't inspire me to start doing that - i was already drumming to michael jackson, beatles and hendrix albums before i came down with the purple virus.

ive always loved guitar..and i really got in2 it this past summer cuz all my friends had one and i'd always pick it up and try a lil sumtin sumthin...but it wasnt untill later in july when i saw him in concert and he basically made LOVE to his guitar (it was that aqua strat...pitty it wasnt the hohner) i really wanted one...and its funny a few weeks before my dad had gone out and bought one for me and i was only doing small things like scales n shit...the NIGHT i came home from the concert and having heard musicology for the first time and loving it i taught myself the 3 major chords from "a million days"...its sad cuz thats still the ONLY song i kno how 2 play effortlessly now..LOL im still teaching myself the other parts of the song but yeah hehehe...

i've always played intruments (the organ...clarinet...a bit of the trumpet.. a BIT) and i've always loved music...but i stopped playing for a while (i havent played anything since i was about 14..) and now 4 years later prince helped 2 revive the love that i had for making music and not jus listening 2 it... im no musician but it's fun 2 learn...

Prince deffinitely inspired me to pick up an instrument again and rekindle the love...and i really have 2 thank him for that

No but I play drums because of Bobby Z, Sheila E. and Michael Bland.

I played guitar long before I became a Prince fan (in the 80s I only listened to hard rock and hated him)
But Prince changed the way I see music. I learned that sometimes ´less is more´ and a minimalistic guitar line means much more than a complicated guitar shredding. I will be always thankful for him for that.

Yes,i confess.....Once i thought 2 not have musical talent and a day 4 a case i tried 2 play piano improvising bcuz i didnt no any notes....I think it wasnt influenced by Prince.....but now im playing guitar 2 and some percussions as hobby....Yes, Prince is influencing me now.....

I have to admit that prince encouraged me to but a guitar and try to play. I haven't got very far yet and haven't had lessons but I will soon. Just trying to earn chords at the moment but its so sore on your fingers

**** Prince plays electric guitars....and some of my guitarist friends told me that the chords of the electric guitar r softer.....
Playing guitar isnt so easy, i no it very well, infact i think that its easier 2 play piano...U need 2 b patient....
Nylon chords r softer than metal strings.....
Prince has lot of experience.....yes it seems that its so easy 4 him....Im persevering and now i can play "human" sounds with guitar....and im learning 2 play more notes at a time.....U will b good and u will have lot of satisfactions...Believe me
