Prince references in the literature Has anybody ever compiled a list of books that refer to Prince to some degree?
I know of the following: - Motherless Brooklyn (Jonathan Lethem). The main character suffers from Tourette syndrom and is addicted to Prince. There is a nice paragraph on the song "How come you don't call me anymore". - Black Album (Hanif Kureishi). I have not read this one but I have always been curious to see if the contents had reference to the eponymous Prince album. - There is also a book by Virginie Despentes, I think it is Les Chiennes Savantes, with some references to Prince songs. Well, that's all I can remember of? Has anybody came across any other reference? David. -- | |

Bret Easton Ellis mentions Prince or Prince songs in the following novels:
Less Than Zero Rules of Attraction American Psycho and Prince, the rockstar, makes a cameo appearance in Glamorama. In one scene his smooching with the model Veronica Webb and in another scene he walks into a party flanked by the Cocteu Twins. Now of course there is no real twins in Cocteou Twins but Glamoroama blurs the distinction between reality in fiction...it's a fun read.

Stephen King mentions a Prince song in It. Also in The Stand he says a guy looks like Prince(during a scene where people are being killed in a TV stdio). | |

yes, hanif quereshi does mention the black album in the book. The main character is a Prince fan and the story i think is set in 1989. The fatwa against salman rushdie acts as a backdrop to the story too. the story which is set on the fanatacism (religious) is way too relevant even in today's world. | |

Darn trying to remember where I read about a reference to him .... even used that glyph symbol in the book.
