Before finding this site, I thought I knew everything about Prince.
But then...everytime I'm on this damn site someone will drop a song title and I'm like - WTF? What song is that? Never heard of it.

Or a performance will be mentioned and I have no clue what anyone is talking about.

I guess we are all here to learn but I hate feeling STOOPID, especially when it comes to Prince.

oh hun, join the club. i've only been a fan for 7 years so i missed out on a WHOLE bunch of stuff. especially with all that talk of backwards messages in songs and what they mean, the old band line ups, songs in the vault and unreleased, albums i NEVER heard of and all that other stuff. i don't get humiliated, i see it as a learning experience and helps me to never get tired of the man. there's SO much of his music i haven't heard and i hope i never get to say i heard all of his music.

Don't feel bad! I have been a fan for 20 years and I still learn stuff on the org that I didn't know before.
That's was I love the org!

I was a fanatic during the '80s, so I got that area covered pretty well, but I dropped off being much of a fan from 1995 onward -- so I'm still learning too. Also, I don't keep up with all the bootlegs, etc. I'm just happy to hear or see one when I get a chance -- so even after 20+ years, there's many things I don't know. I have a lot of respect for various orgers here (e.g. BorisFishpaw) who know a lot and are always happy to share, and they're not the type to make one feel humiliated. And really, there's not many here who know a WHOLE lot -- we all do our share to get others in the know.

I have been a fan for about 23 years and I always learn something here. I love learning new things about my favorite purple musician. There are some times that I think "I should KNOW that", but I don't feel humiliated.

Not at all, I enjoy it here. The majority of the people I run into in day to day life are only into today's current music and know very little about Prince or the other old artists for that matter. I love being able to communicate with others that know just as much as I do and most of the time they know more than I do. I'm constantly learning new things here.

as we all know there are many folks that dont give a damn about prince so it is a very kool thing to have a community like this...i cant say i ever hear about stuff i dont know or cant hear elsewhere...but then again im a musician and a musician that plays with a couple of PRINCE DIEHARDS so i stay on top of most things...but soak up the knowledge...u will be alright...

I think I've humiliated enough individuals during my 8-year-long "career" in the Prince internet community that if somebody feels like humiliating me in return be my guest. I've deserved it.

i go to other sites when i want to be humiliated.

I've been a fan since the beginning and things always seem to pop up. I just bought the Sexy Dancer 12" and I didn't know that there actually is a long version. Duhhhh!!!! I guess since I have everything else I assumed it was the album version. He used to do that a lot. The 7" would be an edited version of the album version and the 12" would be the album version. Are there any other 12" I should worry about. I'm aware of stuff like LETS WORK (different towards the end), LITTLE RED CORVETTE (dance version) and of course AMERICA and all those other 80's songs. Help!!!!
