I'm soo jealous! I will have to reply to what you have said because I have always been a fan before I even knew I was listening to Prince. I enjoyed all of the music during the Purple Rain time eventhough I was fairly young and didnt listen to it very much until I was older (during the time of KISS) and then I got married pretty early and marriage and children side tracked me for a while. 
I attended my very first P concert (opening night June 25 Chicago). I am feelin kinda like the way you described the girl above, giddy and kinda virin like in all of my new discovery of tons of music that I wasnt aware of and of the man himself. Even the old stuff (The Hits/B sides) I listen to weekly. This year I absolutely fell in love with P all over again and I mourn all of the years that I missed by not keeping up with things.  I love love love Musicology just as I love alot of his older stuff.
That being said for someone who lost touch for a lot years the ultimate highlight for me was going to the July 23rd Chicago show and actually getting on stage!  I'll be 85yrs old and still talking about the fact that I was a hairs breath away from P like 4 times, and the cherry on top was actually dancing behind P,  and next to Candy and the kinda heavy Sax player (I forget his name) I am on a new road of discovery when it comes to P and I am lovin every minute of it.  ?Cause me and u could have been a work of art
