Rediscovered albums

What albums have you recently rediscovered that you previously didn't like before or wasn't quite fond of in the very beginning? For about a week or so, I've rediscovered the Around the World In A Day album and gained a new appreciation for it. At first, I thought it was a good album - not great. But after sitting through and listening to it again from beginning to end, I've finally grown to love it. Much like Lovesexy, The Black Album and a few other underrated gems.

But, once again, I ask: what albums have you recently rediscovered from P?

Lately, for me it's been the prince album, especially the slow joints: "Sweet Baby," "Morning Papers," "Damn U," "And God Created Woman." Has he ever had that many great slow songs on a one disc album?

Thanks to some people talking about it here, I pulled out For You and discovered that it is quite good. I hadn't listened to it for a good decade or more.

But, man o' man, does Prince's 80's catalog need some serious remastering.

I just started listening to "Dirty Mind" and "Controversy" again for the first time in a few months and forgot how great these albums were. I always digged them from the first time I heard them this year, but hearing them again recently made me find a new appreciation for them both. Slamming.

I absolutely love the prince album.

I played it so many times (on tape) that it inspired me to upgrade to a CD player.

I thought that Prince was moving towards greater things instead of the mediocre joy ride he's had us experience as of late. Oh well, life is full of surprises.

The prince album does have some very addictive tracks. I must admit, I've finally been able to download the entire the album and never thought I would like it as much as I do now then I did in the past. I'll definitely head out and buy the prince album the next chance I get. Along with the Lovesexy album, as well. "Positivity" has been stuck in my head for about 2 weeks.

The acoustic version of Seven has to be my favorite.

I have to admit, I didn't like Around The World. It took me, what, 19 yrs. to appreciate this one? I really like it now. Originally, I couldn't get over the way he said "Giggle" in Condition of the Heart. I'd hear it and have to turn it off. I guess I'm a late-bloomer. I like the whole album finally.

"gigggggle the same gigggggle that you dooooo"

Haha!!!! I totally agree but I love that song. I actually have a really weird version of Around the World In a Day. It's really fast. I kind of like it but prefer the album version.

Believe it or not, I'm rediscovering Purple Rain! Having listened to it for years and years in the 80's I sort off forgot to listen to it. I got bored with those live medleys where he only played snippets of those great songs, but now that I've compiled the extended versions CD it's back to the 80's for me!
