Thanks for all the responses.

I thought of something else: On Alphabet St. (This is not music...) 12" towards the end the is a fuzz-tone wah-wah guitar solo. Right before the music fades out you can hear that it isn't really a guitar but Prince speaking through some voice manipulation device (to make it sound like a guitar). You can hear him say "Remember when?" and that's all I can figure out.

Is that really a song called Boy sung by Wendy backwards in Girl?

Yes. Same lyrics, but sung to a male. I'm not sure if it's Wendy singing, though.

I think its Susannah

I think I read here on the org that Prince recorded the drums for the first three songs on 'Parade' in one continuous take. Is that true?

I heard When Doves Cry was an "after thought" song written just for the movie??

I know that Take Me with U was a late addition. It wasn't in the regular package of songs.

Yes, that too - from A6's LP, but When Doves Cry was the last song smile

Prince has a bit of a tradition of writing one last song for an album right at
the last minute... and often releasing it as the first single.

When Doves Cry
Kiss
Batdance
Thieves In The Temple
Gett Off
Letitgo

Hee-hee some of his biggest hits too! Wasn't Anotherloverholenyohead the last edition to Parade? (not first single though obviously!)

What the hell is that guy saying at the very beginning of If I was Your Girlfriend?

I think it's "Look at the bargains over here ladies!"

The person saying that line is Robin Williams. It's from one of his movies... I forget which one it was, but when I saw it, I was like "Holy Shit! That's the line from If I Was Your Girlfriend!"

Also, there are a few Madhouse samples from the movie "The Godfather"

"And Then, They tried to take adantage of her" - from the Madhouse 16 album (the "Baby doll house" song... forget which number) It's one of the first lines of Godfather I.
and from "13" - "Bada Bing, they blow your brains out all over your nice ivy league suit" James Caan is saying that line.

Does anyone have juicy bits about Prince songs maybe the rest of us don't know. Like what a sample is really from, what he's really talking about, who's really playing what, etc.

The Rap that Cat did in Cindy C is taken from a Chicago House song call Music is the Key by JM Silk. Steve silk Hurly from JM Silk later did a re-mix of Gett off. Not to juicy but hey what the hell.....

David.

The rap from Cindy C was originally recorded and included on Positivity.

The Girl moaning in Orgasm is Vanity from an unreleased song Vibrator.

The Bob George telephone part...the "Bob George" the pimp is talking to...the tape recorder speed up is from a Madhouse song. I am not sure what is being said though.

My Question is why is there a "fall down" at the end of Vanity 6's he's so dull? In the video it happens...but it seems the video is mimicing the sounds heard on He's So Dull. It's an odd effect.

"Love is Here" is actually Paisley Park backwards. I don't know how the heck he did that but it is. So you'll hear "Paisley Park....laughing" reverse it and you'll hear it. let me know if you hear the same thing. I actually have a program where I can record it then play it backwards without having to use my turntable.

Oh you simply MUST hear the 12" Paisley Park!!!! It's probably my favorite Prince track ever. I know that's a sweeping statement, and I'm not gonna be held down to it, but the guitar on that song is ethereal.

And cool, I never heard the "Love Is Here," MiguelGomez - thanks for the tip, I'll listen for it!!

Here's my little scrap: In Madrid 2 Chicago, at the end of the first verse, the main vocal sings, "Nuthin' but you on my mind" - at the same time, softly in the background, Prince sings "Nuthin' but eatin' that pussy..."

That's probably my all-time fav. Oh yeah, and the P-U-S-S-Y from New Position. I guess I like pussy! wink

He also wrote Irresistible Bitch about her(Vanity) too.

Incidentally, The horn/background noise used at the beginning of Lady Cab Driver is a sound sample from the movie The Sting.
