The over-looked thread

SO I see lots of "song is over-looked" threads, and I think "Erm, I don't over-look this song! I Love it!

But I guess some tracks are over looked neutral

For whatever reason they might not be appreciated as they should be, so I offer to start with some songs that I feel are overlooked, that is, they aren't sighted as pant-wettingly classic Prince tracks A+ grade all the way!!

1. Hot Thing
Surely a genuine Camille track that never was?! It has all the elements?! If it had the vocals, it would fit in perfectly - The cheeky, kinky sexuality, the striped down dance beat - it's all there - Then we get the end portion with the inspired horn work! What a dream!

An Honest Man
The piano instrumental from UTCM (unreleased on record) - I love this, so whimsical, themeatic so cinematic!
The strings, the playfulness - so fitting for the movie, the period, the soundtrack!

Fourteen
So what Madhouse tracks get regularly mentioned except 6 (and 10, 13)??
This track is superbly sublime, the flute is obviously the masterstroke here, but the synth work, piano, sax and percussion just lets that flute slide over the top of the groove, never interfering unless called for smile

New World
I think this is the freshest Prince has ever sounded since 1989, lyrically and musically. I think this is Prince's most exhilerating track from 1989 to Now.

Man In A Uniform
Prince's cutest song for years, fun, funky, different, frivolous, BUT still has a bitter edge - I love it!
I DO love a man in uniform, but that has no baring on the inclusion here!

Xogenous
Sophisticated. That's what I think when I hear this song - Not to say sophisticated "anything", other sophisticated Prince instrumental.
I love the album Xpectation, it feels like a Madhouse album to me, and this is a great Madhouse-esque track - You wouldn't hear it on a Prince album, too jazzy, but it has a great pop hook!

Baby
Prince's first released big blown-out ballad, the first of many, and I love it. I love how For You was so crafted, the naivety of the record is endeering.

Ronnie Talk 2 Russia
Lyrically, I guess you have to have at least a very rudimentary understanding of the end of the Cold War in the early 80s to get this song - But the energy just bristles, I love it so much, it's so "Punk", so "New Wave", so "I don't give a fuck about making a single!"

I remember getting this album on cassette in about 1993/94 and wondering who this girl Ronnie was (because I thought Prince always sang about girls) smile

Until UR in my Arms Again has always been overlooked because it is on NPS. I think its great, especially the chorus

There is no official CD release, only download for member since 2003 and non-members since 2004.

Goddamn right!

I've been digging Strays of the World lately, and I rarely hear about it, so I'll throw that onto the "overlooked" pile.

1. Tomorrow - it's just the smoothest song to me. And I love the "scatting."
2. Poom Poom- People act like its a horrible song, but I think it's very funny and it sound tres' cool. I think it could be a radio hit today, given what's currently popular.
3. Goodbye-nobody ever really talks about this song, but I really enjoy it.
4. So Blue- all kinds of fabulous vocal acrobatics
5. My Medallion- cracked me up the first time I heard it. Love it.
6. TGRES- gets no love around here, but that's one sexy song (and the video. razz ). (People just hate on it just because Prince had on a blue polyurethane unitard on the album cover, and because he was willing to sing it even on street corners to make Rave a commercial success.)
