I don't exactly know about the others... but please DO buy the Black Album! That's some real hot funky stuff. Just gotta have it!

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Exodus - An NPG album, well the old mid-90's version anyway, although Prince is all over it. Lot's of lengthy skits/segues, lot's of swearing, but a few really dark and funky tracks.

Crystal Ball - 3 cds of material from the vault, an eclectic mix of eras and great songs and poorer songs. Plus a 4th disc, The Truth, a more laid-back semi-acoustic album of okayish songs.

1800 NewFunk - a collection of various tracks by an array of artists Prince had some involvement with. Only track Prince actually sings on is Lovesign with Nona Gaye. Some good tracks, some poor tracks.

Gold Nigga - Another NPG album, with Prince all over it but slightly less so. He sings on 2 songs but mostly is Prince's rapper from the Diamonds and Pearls era, Tony Mosley, singing on it. Some funky stuff though.

New Power Soul - yet another NPG album but this time Prince sings and does everything, so basically a Prince album. Not well liked around these parts, but some cool laid-back funk tracks if nothing outstanding.

The Black album - if released in the 80's as originally planned, would have had more impact than when it was eventually released in the 90's. Perhaps a bit dated in places, but still dark and funky.

The Vault - a collection of jazzy or bluesy songs given to Warners to complete hs contract - a short album, the tracks sound a bit old-fashioned for Prince but are half-decent and the album surprisingly has a consistent feel to it.

Over-all, I'd say they're all worth buying for one reason or another. But I'd suggest you start off with Crystal Ball. There's bound to be at least a couple of track on that you'll like.
