Last night was the UK Music Hall of Fame for the 1980s. Prince was of course in the final 10, 1 of whom is to be inducted via a public vote. The other 9 were Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Joy Division, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, The Smiths, Guns N Roses, George Michael and REM.
Princes story was basically that he released 10 albums in the '80s - Purple Rain bringing him to the attention of the masses - and then changing his name and battling Warners. Considering the program was about the '80s, that decade didn't feature too prominently in his story.
