Prince and Phil Collins

doesn't Phil's I Wish It Would Rain Down sound like Purple Rain in lyric and music. there's even a hot guitar solo at the end courtesy of Eric Clapton.

also, doesn't the piano intro to Empty Room sound like the theme to the Young and The Restless?

- for me the most explicit reference is the similarity between ´Sussudio´ and ´1999´.....Phil went too far! heehe
I dont mean to bash Phil. I actally like some of his songs like ´Easy lover´

S'interesting.

I heard Easy Lover on the radio today, and it reminded me of Little Red Corvette - Never really thought of it before.

"Prince and Phil Collins?..."

You just got dog-do in my peanut butter! sad

I must insist on a restraining order against allowing Phil's name within 5 inches of Prince's. Please don't make me call Peter Gabriel on you...

OK, ignore my spelling and pay attention only to my message:

Phil's psuesudeo sounded like it borrowed inspiration from 1999.
and Let it Raind sounded like it borrowed from Purple Rain, at least in spirit.

But all the crap he did for disney is almost indistinguishable from Prince's Graffiti Bridge stuff---frightening.

Are you guy's kidding, How could you not mention su-su-suddio? That's a blatant 1999 rip off from a time when everyone was ripping him off.

"sussudio" is one of my fav Phil songs....."I wish it would rain down", to me, does not have a relation in sound or lyrics to "purple rain", inspired maybe though!

"sussudio" musically maybe like prince a bit, but the way he sings it is totally different to how Prince would sing it!

Don't listen to the way he sings or the melody but the keyboard riff, lifted clean from 1999. Nothing wrong with it though, Rolling Stone accused Prince of stealing the said riff from the Mama's and Papa's, Monday, Monday.

I wish it would rain down is a Pink Floyd rip-off. Listen to the guitar solo - pure Gilmour.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Phil Collins has ripped off three Prince songs wholesale. The songs are:

Sussudio-----1999
I Wish It Would Rain Down---Purple Rain
Easy Lover-----Take Me With U (listen to the drums on that one)

Stop biting the purple funk, Phil!
All good things they say never last...

True. Phil even admitted on a show that he stole the keyboard rifof Sussido from 1999 from P . The TV Interviewer asked Phil had he got any flack from P about it and he said no.

For all of Prince's many faults, I have never once seen him lower himself to complain when he was being ripped off. I though he was ripped off constantly in the eighties but he remained above any Little Richard like bitching about it. Listen to Oh Sheila and you'll hear Lady Cab Driver and of course Prince's unpatented funk all over it.

With prince's ego (which is not a complaint) I'm sure he was happy to hear himself being ripped off on some songs in the 80's.....
