Anyone remember Princess from Dance Party USA?

You'd probably have to have been born before 1977 to remember this show. It was like a B rated American Bandstand. I think it was on the USA network.
Anyway, one of the regular dancers was this blonde chick who called herself Princess and she was a huge Prince fan and she wore lace all the time and clothes inspired by the Man.
Does anyone know who I am talking about?
Better still, is Princess an Orger ?

OMG I TOTALLY remember her!! She wore a purple teardrop on her face and said she'd only take it off once she met Prince.

She had long blond hair - not big 80's hair, kind of flat and straight, but very pretty. And she had a lovely bod, very cute face.
I just remember (keep in mind I was 16) getting pissed evertime I saw her. They made such a big deal of her on the show, with her cute tight outfits and all, that I feared Prince would see her and call her and they would end up together, which would blow my whole chance with him.....

I definitely remember Princess. biggrin

Her real name is Heather Day, which I have no problem now revealing as she herself revealed it long ago. And Snap is correct, she was from Philadelphia.

She had a website up for quite some time although the site is gone now. It was at: http://www.heatherday.com and on that site she even had a small page dedicated to her time as 'Princess' on Dance Party USA along with some pictures of herself way back then. Via her site she stated she finally did get to meet Prince (and thus removed the teardrop!), and would explain the details later but her site disappeared before she ever updated it and told the story.

You can still look through her site via archive.org, here: http://web.archive.org/we...erday.com/ (the site is rather slow to load but if you wait the photos DO come up)

Her now defunct website also had a picture of her on her wedding day, along with a number of current promotional photos - she had put out some aerobics fitness videotapes which maybe you can still purchase from somewhere, I don't know.

I know all this stuff for two reasons: ONE is that we corresponded many times back in the 80s, spoke on the phone and, in fact, met her once when she flew in to Mpls for the Lovesexy concert in 1988 and went to the concert with a group of people and myself. (before the show we all went and ate at Rudolph's BBQ and afterwards we all went out to try to crash the big afterparty at Paisley Park. I know, I know but I was younger and stupider then but apparantly I and my friends weren't the only one with the party crash idea as there was a HUGE pack of gawkers and hopeful gatecrashers out there that night!! We hung around near the fence hoping to somehow get in (which we didnt), but found out later that Princess had been THISCLOSE to getting in because a security guard had seen her and was going to come out and let her in but we had already given up and left by the time he came out looking for her. The whole time we were at the concert and hanging around out at Paisley, Princess was like a mini-celebrity, getting recognized by people in the crowd. A great number of people of all ages watched Dance Party, evidently. And yes - she was in FULL Princess regalia, including her name spelled out down her leg like P's Lovesexy outfit/s. lol)

and TWO - there are a couple Dance Party USA Yahoo groups to which I am subscribed (I admit it! lol) and though as far as I know Princess/Heather herself has never posted to them, her name gets mentioned frequently especially by new members.

BTW - the company who produced DPUSA is discussing putting together a new show, holding a Pay-Per-View DPUSA reunion show eek, and putting the old show out on DVD. I haven't checked in on the Yahoo group recently but that's what I remember from last time I did.

Are you shocked that there were "enthusiastic" Prince fans before you were born?
Or, are you shocked that people tried to crash a Prince after party?
Why are you shocked- you use Princebonics. None of this should be particularly srange to you. lol

I wish somebody who still speaks with her could let us know what she's up to currently. Her site hadn't been updated in a year or so and I'd love to know if she's still an avid Prince fan or if she ever checks out the Org.

Those Princely childhood memories are wonderful. heart

Maybe then I can tell you a name (it is very pathetic that I remember some of this stuff, I know...lol why can't I remember more useful information? confused)

Snap

in a way, it was the original TRL where guest musicians/bands would show up
and what was that other MTV show with all the dancing?
i definitely remember Kelly Rippa -- she was very cute!
every once in awhile the kids would act out a song
i think Kelly did something like Stacey Q -- something very pop
Princess always did a Prince tune (Kiss, even Adore! with the U Got The Look coat)
Bobby (who always wore sunglasses) always did George Michael
the show was all very silly, but i wouldn't mind seeing it again
especially the 1st two years
remember how fanatical i used to be about my musical tastes
lol

edit: oh, and i ain't sharing the name i gave her until i speak with her again -- that way she'll know who it is
