Prince's Favorite Sample

Has to be that "Girl Laughing in reverse" Sample. Every since Purple Rain I've heard that same sample in maybe a dozen if not more of his songs.

Just heard the Good Life (Bullets Go bang remix) and sure enough at the end of that you hear that girl laughing or crying.

Who is it? What was it originally recorded for? and why does he keep using it.

Probably just fit at the time, just like that lovely (now very hackneyed) orchestral stab sound . You can hear Prince 'discovering' samplers from Batman on and having great fun with them. Exodus is just pile high in vocal samples, especially Get Wild live. From then on.. considerably less (you get the feeling he's been there, done that)
