UPD8 ON 'SUPPOSED' PRINCE CONCERT IN PARIS

Taken from http://www.londoncallingm.../index.htm

Stop Press: We are still awaiting actual confirmation of the Prince show in Paris. At this stage on the 2nd of October the original scheduled date for the 28th is now unlikely and we have been informed that there will be a show either in November or early in 2005. If you decide to pre-register and the date is not suitable a refund will be offered or you can use the pre-registration on an alternative European package. Please remebre pre-registrations not only give you a cheaper deal, but guaranteed priorities on upgraded tickets.

Don't forget when making a booking with us to protect your package by ensuring you take out the concert cancellation insurance. This will cover the package price paid for a further charge of 8%, further details are available on this premium by clicking the following link: Concert cancellation Insurance

Any further questions you can Contact us by email or call 0870 220 1111 (Uk) or +44 870 220 1111 from Abroad.

As I suspected, a complete con. They took some vague rumour and used it to try and get people to pay out well in advance. It is always harder to get your money back from these companies than they make out. Plus they have had your money in their bank account accruing interest for perhaps months!

But the worst thing, is that they say they are 'awaiting confirmation' of the 28th date and in the next sentence they say they have been told there won't be a show until November or 2005, which clearly contradicts the first sentence and also indicates they are as clueless about the continuation of Prince's tour as we all are.

And then they go onto say, please pay additional money for insurance! Yeah, the company that is plain lying to you is offering insurance in case they are lying to you! And they get to keep that money when they inform you it is all off!

What a scam!

Translation

"If you pre-register with us and the date is wrong, we offer you a refund"

A full refund? Presumably not because, if when you pre-register you pay an extra 8% you can get your money back (apart, that is, from the 8% which they keep) when you find out the date they said was likely (and now unlikeley) is wrong.

Originally they claimed it was going to be at Le Zenith, which it was pointed out was a venue unsuitable to accommodate the current tour arrangements. Then they changed it to Paris-Bercy, which would be 'feasible'. But then they come out with:

"At this stage on the 2nd of October the original scheduled date for the 28th is now unlikely"

"Original scheduled date"??? Rubbish - the date was never scheduled.
