In the song 'Insatiable' he sings "Turn the lights off, STRIKE a CANDLE". u strike a MATCH not a CANDLE.

He also says "a funky little story 'bout you and I," when grammatically, it's proper to say "you and me," but that don't rhyme. wink

He also likes to switch "perfume" and "cologne" in reference to who wears it - a man or a woman (or prince). Part of the fun of lyric writing is messing with the language, tho.

Perfume & cologne are just different measurements of the oil to alcohol ratios in fragrances. They aren't specified/assigned to a particular sex. Just most commonly men wear cologne & women wear perfume.

So its actually the purity of the fragrance the degrees break down like this: 1-Parfum/Perfume....2-Eau du perfume....3-Eau da toilette (toilette means 3rd If I remember correctly)....
4-eau da cologne...5-cologne.

All those years at my first job at the cosmetics/fragrance counter at macys actually paid off for some knowledge.

There's also the ending of I Don't Want To Leave You from the Times What Time Is It? record...

near the end, the song basically cuts and goes into a vamp.... this happens out of nowhere...

anyways, Prince told questlove that the tape was damaged and that was how they edited it...

Yikes

Christ...questlove and his "Prince stories"....

The live CD of the Diamods and Pearls tour in Austrilia he sings the same verse twice on Thunder

that reminded me, when he sang The Holy River live on the Rosie O Donnell show around 1996 , instead of singing "putting your faith in things that only make you cry " he sings
"putting your things in faith that only make you cry" eek

I definately noticed that. Back in the day, I thought my record had a skip in it and I exchanged it twice. I finally found it odd that the "skip" was in the same place on all three records. A friend of mine had the cassette and he said he had the same "skip".

Does anyone else have a problem with their CD copy of "Sign O The Times"? On my copy, I cannot press the track numbers and go straight to "Adore". All my CD players acknowledge the track but will not play it. The CD immediately goes back to track 1. I have to go to "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" and skim all the way to almost the end of the song and then let the CD play. I got tired of it and burned my LP onto CD.
