From TheFunkStore.com:

"...Bootsy goes straight into mid-80s Minneapolis funk faze for the track "Groove Eternal" featuring One and Bobby Womack."

I know who Bobby Womack is, but not One.

It's not Prince with Bootsy. He gives up props to Prince and his style.

When this song was released, the rumour initially grew that 'One' was a Prince pseudonym, because some people thought it sounded like him.

Bootsy issued a statement clarifying that 'One' was the name of another performer with whom he had collaborated ... and not Prince.

In a subsequent interview in August, his response to an enquiry about this was less helpful in terms of an outright denial:

"Finally, Bootsy fans on American soil have something to chew on, with the recent release of “Play with Bootsy,” which also features a joint credited to “One” and Bobby Womack called “Groove Eternal.” One reviewer described the track as “ a slice of cheesy, funk-soul that could have come straight off a mid-80s Prince album.” “That just might be Prince,” laughs Bootsy. “We call him ‘the One.’ It’s kind of a hush/hush deal. We call him ‘Chris - the One.’ That’s a clue. Throw it out there, you might get some feedback.” "

I have listened to this song from the moment it got out, but I never ever heard one bit of Prince on this track or record except maybe Prince's influence on the synths, which sound VERY 80's Minneapolis sound.

If you think that is Prince in the background, you need to check your ears....

The entire album is channelling that 80's feel, but mixes it up sublimely with the sound of now, like Prince hasn't been able to do since, well, like 1991.
That should be a dead give away.

Sure, whereas I, the person who has been fan for, lemme use my fingers, 20 years does not recognise Prince's voice.

Even in the sample I still do not hear it. Sorry.

I mean, I can tell you, on what moment Prince screams on Time Waits 4 No One.

Does that count?
I WANT to believe, but I am way too pragmatic.

I just downloaded this, and it's *obvious* that Prince is singing *lead vocals*!

Or...an aged "Camille"...

Thats a woman on the lead. Im talkin about the background in the instrumental breakdown...when a male says, "dig this groove eternal" (listen 2 the sample if u must).

He does? Where? I only heard woman backgrounds and her, i never heard no Male singers on that song. Prince only plays guitar. Reminicent of the Pink Cashmere sound.
