I THINK THE NEXT ALBUM FROM PRINCE WILL BE A CLASSIC

i feel the time is right after the commercial success of the "not bad but not great" musicology album and the justification that prince must be feeling this year, for prince to get back in the studio and let his creative juices flow. he must be feeling very relaxed and satisfied after the year he has had and the time is right for him to record a set of stunningly strong songs....which will be both commercially and creatively a high point in his career.
...
...i know we all think he is still capable of making stunning music and i have a feeling that next year, we may well hear it biggrin

Only if he gets back with Wendy & Lisa, the most amazing musicians ever![/delusionalPrincefans]

Don't expect anything, that way, you're much happier when it arrives.

That's what happenned with Diamonds & Pearls.

He had a pretty good string of hits with D&P, which wasn't exactly a crtically acclaimed album, then followed up with prince.

Dispite it's mediocre tracks it was very strong. He also recorded COME, GOLD, and a slew of creative tracks shortly afterwords, but the whole Waner vs. prince killed it later.

Define classic.

I think "Musicology" is a classic. Some think "The Rainbow Children" is a classic. Some hated "Around the World in a Day" because it was not "Purple Rain" pt. 2, but then became all revisionist and now call it classic. One person's "New Power Soul" is another person's "Lovesexy".
"New Power slide...."

Not gonna happen , enjoy what he's manage to accomplish. Nothing is happening in music and he took advantage of the situation. Plus he hadn't really been seen in years (public wise).

With a couple of track changes/swaps I think Musicology WOULD be considered a classic (though not up there with SOTT). It just lacked a couple of killer trax because all the trax are good (perhaps not LOTP).

Having said that I have absolutely no idea what Prince will do for his next album but I don't expect anything till middle next year as he will possibly tour Europe first.

I would really like it if he could keep the momentum going by perhaps milking the nostalgia and finally hook up with W&L and finish the Roadhouse Garden album.

One thing we can be sure, he'll do whatever we least expect!
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

You always feel Prince is capable of a classic album just around the corner.

But I have a feeling that he will release something to cache in on this tour - perhaps a collection of reworked classic hits like he's threatened to before. I actually think it would be the perfect time to do this and get it over and done with. Ideally a 2 disc set of reworked classics and new material.

Since when wasn't D&P a critically acclaimed album? It got the best reviews since Sign "O" The Times in overall. In fact, Symbol, was the one that got a few pretty nasty reviews written of it.

The rainbow children is a definetly a classic best work n a long tyme because of its deep cultured theme , sounds like he put a lot of effort into it . Its one of those albums that really musicians only appreciate .He takes u on a journey .I luv it when he does that . Musicology is cool but i feel rainbow children was a nother true work of art. ive been a hardcore fan for 20 years.
