1999 new masters just might be... the worst thing Prince has ever recorded....its like its not even him..the only conclusion i can come up with is that he was on drugs at the time of the recording Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

when i listen to it i think how can he redo his own song this bad? and i think how can this be the same person that recorded the original classic? he should have just recorded a live version from a concert or something...im so glad he didnt go thru with his plans on rerecording all of his old albums.. I refused to listen to it. Like an idiot, I actually bought it, but I never spun the disc. I knew it would be some "Special Edition" piece of shit and I couldn't stand hearing one of my favorite songs being raped and exploited for cash. I will never spin the disc. I'm hoping I can sell it to some sucker some day for more than this sucker paid for it. Luv & Peace, Alex Clubbin' in Mpls/A Night w. Prince

supposedly he did, he just never released em, theres an article stroke interview somewhere from about that period which says soemthing like 'he's just putting the finishing touches on re-recording all his old albums' - god knows what they sound like but his vault probably doubled in size at that point!

I don't think he did this. I think he wanted to and said so. But he never rerecorded any of the old albums. I know at the time we got a few newer songs...like Starfish and coffee and Pop Life. But I don't think that the project...like many others ever came to fruitation. Hopefully he saw the light. Christian Zombie Vampires

it's the only prince recording i absolutely steadfastly refuse to purchase. i heard it online when if was first getting released and it was just too painful. i like his remake of "starfish and coffee" (not as much as the original, but still), and i don't mind the idea of re-recording the old classics...IF IT'S DONE WELL. however, rosario dawson and doug e. fresh do not a classic reworking make.

I thought it was just O.K. I think he could have done a LOT better. I enjoy the remixes that DJs have done with the song much better than what Prince did with it. Andy is a four letter word.

PHEW .... I thought it was just me, its bloody awful isnt it!!!!!
and the acapella version makes it even worse...Larry and Rosie on the same record - might as well sell it with a warning sticker "Caution Parental Advisory....this recording contains 2 of the most over rated cling-ons known to man"

Oh he DID do it, I know that for a fact (...though of course I can't prove it) If I remember correctly, the work was all completed sometime in 2001. He even threw a private 'wrap' party at Paisley Park when it was all finished.

Yeah, but that SALSA part was SLAMMIN' ... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
