Chocolate Invasion? Not sure I got the name right, but can anyone tell me something about this, apparently, new cd called Chocolate Invasion? I've read some raves from this site. Where can I get it? Can I hear clips on P's site? Do I have to join NPGMC to buy it? Is it comprised of old vault tunes or all new material? Finally, is it good?
Thanks. PS I haven't been to his site in a while, but the last few times I did, it took forever to get past the stupid Flash intro with the disconnected words shooting out from space.

The Chocolate Invasion is a download-only album, available in the Musicology store over at NPGMC (available to members and non-members - cheaper for members).
It goes hand-in-hand with another download-only album, The Slaughter House - both of which are almost exclusively comprised of material dating back to 98-2000, and was originally made available to members in 2000 in the first year of the NPG Music Club. Many of the tracks come from the unreleased album, 'High', which was scrapped as the follow-up to Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic in 1999 (It's broadly a continuation of the sound of that album, so if you like Rave, you will probably dig these two albums too).

ND gave a really good description of what TCI is.
I am not that fond of Rave personally, but love TCI. It does have a more electronic bouncy sound to it...it certatinly does nopt rock out. But it's quite trippy and weird and contains some really good gems like When I lay my hands on U, Judas smile, Vavoom, The Dance and U Make my sun SHine. The Slaughterhouse is the hip-hoppy companion to TCI. It's a bit more uneven with some of the songs. But also has some good stuff on there, like Peace, In SILICON, S&M Groove, 2045 Radical Man. My take on these and Musicology is...Musicology is for the casual fan and the other two is for the fan that has folllowed. Personally, I think if he had taken the best of the 3 and put out a 2 disc set, it would rival SOTT...but it probably would not be successful as part of Musicologys charm is it's shortness. God that was annoying. Back then I only had dial-up access and It took almonst 10 mins just to get in the front door. Now with broadband and the "easy access" it's so much better. All the world's a funky stage.

What you said about Musicology, I have to agree and correct myself in the "continuation of Rave" bit, TCI is more of a bridge from Rave to Musicology, I think Illusion, Coma... for example shares a similar sound to that of TCI. So for Musicology fans, you should find something you like on TCI too. Oh, and just for completists sake, The Chocolate Invasion was also the title of a cancelled 7CD set from last (this?) year, which encompassed all the previously released NPGMC-only material. I guess Prince saw fit to put it all up for download again, rather than go the CD route.
