I recently had the pleasure of sitting in the front row of the August 22nd Philly show. My wife and I were exactly in front of where they wheeled Prince in and where the band entered under the stage. The band members were all very nice and high fived and shook hands as they entered the stage. I noticed that I seemed to tower over all of them and I'm only 5'10" . Rhonda and Candy are very petite but also very attractive. Even Chance Howard, who is a wide body, still seemed short to me. Obviously you must be an exceptional musician to even get a shot at playing with Prince and gaining his respect. However, I'm starting wonder if you need to be under a certain height as well.

It's possible that he is subconsciously surrounding himself with small people. I mean, how is it for someone with such a huge ego to have to be the itsy bitsy boss. I'm 5'1 my 12 year old sister is 5'6. Every time I yell, or tell her what to do, her response is something like "Please, You can't boss me around, I could step on you," she just doesn't take it that seriously. I wouldn't say he has a size requirement. Of course he is looking at musical ability first and foremost. But maybe somewhere in the back of his mind, he is taking size into consideration.

This seems to be the case.

Blackwell don't seem short to me... Morris Hayes either... what's that dude's name w/ the long hair that used to play keys? Hmm...

you kno whats funny tho, candy looked immensely taller than p when i saw the concert and to kno that shes not even reaching 5'10 in heels scares me

What about Tony, Damon @ Kirk? Are they short 2 ?

Tony and damon are very tall ( tony's at least 6'4) and kirk is about 5 10' and muscular. My buddy's and i played them in 3 on 3 basketball back in 93 at paisey. I'm only 5'4 but i was killin kirk from the outside, he was scared i'd go by him so he gave me cushion. They won because Tony was manhandling my boy dave who's only about 5'11.

So it seems he may have a size tendancy, not a requirement

If you get a chance to watch Nona and Prince's performance on The Today Show, you will notice that P is sitting on a stool while Nona sings. I know he did that because the contrast in their height would have been enourmous, especially if she was wearing heels..

Does anyone know if prince asked the chick gwen from no doubt out on a date only to be told to "fuck off"?

I seem to remember that he made Cat and Sheila wear flat shoes when they were on stage with him.

well, 5'10" is on the tall side anyway, so what do you expect...you're no shorty yourself!

I think this is just coincidence....and also it is quite common for musicians to be short....think of major rockstars and chances are, they're quite slight in stature....it's the rockstar/musician body mold....broad shoulders, slight stature.

*thick voice of sarcasm* Now you know Nona didn't neva date no Prince! She's LYING! She's been LYING all these years because God KNOWS if you're going to lie about dating a man, Prince would be the one!

Now you have me thinking about when Naomi Campbell asked Nona back in the day if Prince had to strand on a stool to **** her!
