You know... I don't listen to Tori Amos and I have to say, this was actually a really good cover. I was expecting it to be crappy, but the piano medley, through the whole song was done very well.

Just when I thought she would poop out, and half-ass it... she belted out the "ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo's" at the end, in perfect falsetto.

Good job Tori. A Prince cover, I didn't actually hate, thanks.

Dude, it could've been worse. It could've been someone like Beyoncé covering it.

omfg That actually happened... oh the horror!

Her version was respectful, if anything. She treated it well, and didn't add any loopy drama to it. I've heard worse, have you heard Phish's version?

I friggin' LOVE her cover of this!!!

My ex-wife used to play a fantastic medley of this with Tori's "Hey Jupiter". She quit playing it live, since she wanted to avoid Tori comparisons. Seems like any woman who plays piano gets compared to Tori now, even if their style is competely different.

thanks for the link. i've heard other vesions of tori covering purple rain with just her and the piano that aren't as power ballady as this one. she does a lot of wicked covers, even nirvana's "smells like teen spirit"! she always makes the songs her own.

It sucks. She doesn't even sing in key.

The best rendition of Purple Rain I"ve heard so far is a live bootleg of Candlebox's version.
Lean Ryme's version isn't too bad either.
