I have a question about "The Question Of U" video (which I love, by the way). Fairly early in the video, when Prince sings "Must I become naked? No image at all?", the sounds appears to fade out for a brief time. Does this happen on everyone's DVDs or do I have a bad copy?

Haven't found any easter eggs. All I've discovered is a minor mistake - on my GB DVD in the scene selections it lists 'Still Would Stand All Time' as 'Still Would Stand All TimeS'.

I may be in the minority but i think Graffiti Bridge is P's best movie. Much better acting and film plot than PR and UTCM. The songs are better, the sound is clearer and the action is AWESOME(remember when the jeep ran into the window?) I can't get enough of watching this movie. Jill Jones should have been nominated for best supporting actress. Her portrayal of a jilted ex-girlfriend turned stage dancer was MAGNIFICENT.

I watched Graffiti Bridge last night , i fogot that rosie gaines was in the movie, she look's very thin

who is the Keyboard player ????

it's not so much a movie as a video album .....in the first 30 min. there is like 4 performances .

also the quality of the video's on the DVD are not good, i have better versions on VHS . if you compare the videos with the corresponding scenes in the movie especially round and round , there is a huge quality difference !!

The artist who did that illustration is Olivia De Berardinis, and she does much better stuff that that!

The mural you mention I remember was a cardstock foldout in a Playboy I had back in '86 (okay, y'all just get off my back! What's a 15 year-old boy supposed to do?!?!?!?!?!!!!! razz ) They had done a whole article on Olivia, and that pic was the centrepiece. It might have been the July issue, I don't know... summertime, definitely.

Oh, and if I recall correctly... the centrefold is fuckin' HAWT!!!!!

I watched Under the Cherry Moon last night and have to say it's better than Purple Rain in all honesty. I liked it so much that im gonna watch it again tomorrow.
As for GB, it's still in the shrink wrap on my shelf and i dont know if i want to open it after all the negative comments.

Well, since I'm the last post, I'm gonna have my say! I absolutley loved UTCM. I had seen it once a long time ago, but bascially forgot about it. Re-watching it again on dvd, I fell in love with it!!! I love the storyline and the black & white was billiant. GB is a different story. I found it hard to watch. I didn't care about the characters and there was a lot of underlying themes. It was disjointed and boring to watch. PR was awesome. Great movie all around, but the special features make it a must. I really enjoyed the interviews with Wendy & Lisa. The plus to all these dvd's is the videos that come in the special features. No where else can you get these. If your a true Prince fan, you need to pick them up!! cool wink

I don't think it was dreadful at all. I enjoyed the music and I enjoyed the overall message. It was like it was some kind of sign at a really difficult time in my life. "It's just around the corner". I can never listen to "Still would stand all time" with dry eyes.

To this day, I cannot understand why Warner Bros. allowed Prince to write and direct this movie - and I cannot understand how Jam and Lewis wound up with a seat on this train wreck. They were the most succesful songwriting/production team in pop at the time - it's not like they needed the paycheck.

Oh boy, I've only popped in the GB DVD and skipped to the videos

observations:

1 - NPG "video"/montage - the Kid's reaction to the angel chick's death is so much funnier than Christopher Tracy's death scnee.
Please, oh please someone get a screen cap of that. it's acting 101 "pretend that you are shocked" crap

hehehehe so funny

2 - Question of U live - amazing performance, but the visuals...oh lord
I like the stripped down concept of the Nude tour, but when he's by himself all alone on that dark stage, he looked like he was running out of ideas!

Ok, great piano intro, cool guitar solo, but there's a 2 second part after his second solo he claps his hand twice and does this gut busting, hand tqirly move that is so Prince-esque!

I dont know if anyone is following me but i replayed it 5 times and pissed myself...no, not true. but its stil funny.

As for his "dancing" he looks like an aspiring dancer working as a part time stripper during the days, bringing class to the raunchy sleazy clientele, like that other bad 80's movie...he's doing these pirouettes, and swings from the pole like a bored 5 year old and then ...oh man, youve all seen it, what was this guy on?! those moves are so laughable.

Last but not least, that hair and beard combo...nuff said

Otherwise, the music was good smile

Wow. I've finally seen UTCM, after 20 years as a Prince fan, whose favorite album was and still is Parade. And all I've got to say is: Terribly enjoyable Fellini ripoff in the first half, painfully unwatchtable Joan Crawford ripoff in the second.

At least GB has some musical performances in it...

Generally, the "volume" on the DVD transfer is set lower than regular video. This is true of most DVD transfers not only UTCM.

Really then why does Purple Rain sound like a normal dvd. The other 2 I have to turn up 20 DB to even get it to the same level of sound. Yes I have a sound meter to prove it. Regular video my ass. The sound on the two just suck compared to most dvds.

Got them both recently and have to say I love Under the Cherry Moon. I'm glad he waited to do any sort of sequel to Purple Rain, and this to me is the perfect way to stretch and challenge things.

Is it a perfect movie? No. Is it enjoyable? Hell yes. It's well written (which explains the next one we're going to.) well acted, and it just simply looks great. The DVD sounds quite good, still wish it 5.1 (that's only on Purple Rain for those interested) but it sounds good for what it is-the videos are another welcome bonus that show their age a little quality wise but are definitely a positive edition to the package. I love this film. I do, it's just so not what you'd expect him to do after having such success. I'm glad he did it, and I wish he'd do another movie and take chances, but maybe not so much like the next one.

Graffiti Bridge. This one is alright, just could've been so much better. Prince is a great director-look at UTCM for proof. He's a much better director when its someone else's material. I'm all supporting when it comes to his music abilities, but when it comes to a script he needs some help.

It's too scattered in being ethereal and not enough in being an actual film. It's really an hour and a half extended concept music video film that link with dialogue. Even the theatrical trailer doesn't really give you much of an idea on what this is-I doubt Warner Bros. knew.

Morris seems to be going through the motions on this one-he has moments, but it could've been more with them battling at the end instead of the ending it has. I still like it, I just wish someone had been more involved in script writing/editing with Prince.

The DVD has good sound (still wish 5.1), and the videos. The Question of U is a song I still love and the live video is great-the solo alone for me is worth the price of the DVD. Thieves in the Temple seems like it's Prince in a Michael Jackson video. Just didn't seem right. The other videos are great as well. I'm the guy that loves New Power Generation and Round and Round, btw. Worth a look if just to make your own decision.

Great film, good film-go check 'em out.

That's all the time we have-this is subby, and the balcony is closed.

cool
