Jill Jones should have been nominated for best supporting actress. Her portrayal of a jilted ex-girlfriend turned stage dancer was MAGNIFICENT.

Also, CythiasSocks...I bought all 3 of mine from Best Buy yesterday too and they were only $42...did they give you the $5 off for buying all three? Hello! Yes I got the discount- my state's tax % must be higher than yours. Did you get the "Free" issues of Entertainment? If you did, be sure to call and inform EW that you do not want to re-new or they will automatically bill your card- which is shadie on Best Buys part. I declined the *free* issues, but thanks for the advice The message you're about to hear is not meant for transmission

Thieves in the Temple looks like it is the longer version, though certainly not
the "PUT YO FOOT ON THE ROCK" () version. It certainly isn't the edited version on the cassette single. And it does seem longer than the CD version. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

For those worried about the quality of these dvd releases. First I'll just say I've ranted time and time again about that shit vegas live crap of a wannabe dvd. Rest assured the movies were at least given some time and care. Best you're likely to see and I feel ok about the quality of all 3 of them actually. Which is a sigh of relief for me. Widescreen and decent transfers, now if only the other two's audio had been handled better, but with prologic II on my end i'll be ok with it.

I don't care what anyone says. GB was awesome. The music, the acting, the cinematography, the directing; it was the best of ALL of P's movies. It will remain on my top 5 list of best movies: #1 Godfather 2, #2 Godfather 1, #3 Graffiti Bridge, #4 The Usual Suspects, #5 Pulp Fiction

Generally, the "volume" on the DVD transfer is set lower than regular video. This is true of most DVD transfers not only UTCM.

I just watched the three movie trailers from the Purple Rain set and in the Grafitti Bridge trailer there is a deleted scene. It opens the trailer. It's a scene with Morris and Jerome in a car discusssing the take from all the clubs and how little the Kid's take was. Nothing Earth shattering, but it may have added a little clarity to the reason Morris was such a bitch in the movie. They made it look like he just didn't like the 'spiritual' music, when it was more of a money obsession.

Because I am at the bottom of the thread, I'm not sure if anyone will read my response, but, just to say how I felt watching the movies, here's my take:
I bought all three DVD's on Wednesday, and I watched all of them today. I had seen Purple Rain before, many times, but it was my first time seeing Under The Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge, including the first time I had seen some of the videos. Anyways, I loved Under The Cherry Moon, more so than Purple Rain or Graffiti Bridge, and the black/white didn't bother me at all. This movie is great; the storyline, the acting, the music, everything. Every character has their own specific piece that fits into the puzzle. Ms. Wellington, Christopher, Mary, even Tricky. It's so sophisticated, but down-to-earth realistic and, sometimes, funny, all at the same time. And the music... it just adds to the enjoyment. It was pure brilliance. Prince definetely did a great job writing and directing, and even staring in this. I give this movie an A. Oh, and although I've only seen this once, and for the first time, those of you who think Prince is saying "Bitch" at the part where Mary wants him out of her house, you're wrong. He is, indeed, saying "Pits". Graffiti Bridge. Graffiti Bridge. What can I say... Most of you tend to discourage this movie, calling it "Grade A Junk", but actually, I liked this one also. In my honest opinion, a lot of the acting in this movie is better than the acting in, dare I say, Purple Rain. Although I liked Purple Rain better, Graffiti Bridge has a lot to offer. The Kid is still battling Morris in an age old rivalry, defending what means most to him, the music. How could you not like this plot? I'll tell you why. Because, although, I think, the movie is good, it does get a bit boring sometimes, mostly in between the musical performances, and I was a bit disappointed that this movie was generally more focused on Morris than on The Kid. It was basically a Time movie, like the soundtrack. And, like in Purple Rain, what I didn't like was Morris' acting, or his annoying laughing. This especially brought the movie down. Some of the music is good, especially Elephants And Flowers, but I think this movie focused too much on the music, rather than in Purple Rain, where the story and music are equivelant. Graffiti Bridge was nothing more than one or two lines more than a concert flick. So, Purple Rain II, I think not. But, don't get me wrong, the movie was alright. I'd give it a C. I know a lot of you will disagree with what I said about Graffiti Bridge, but hey, what the hell? I'm just stating my opinion.

What was the point of that edit? Oh yeah.....loads of the movie in general was cut out.....every song on album was originally included in the movie so think abot the songs u don't hear then u can work out which bit's were deleted..... Thanx warners 4 giving us the deleted scenes and the Premier party etc.....bloody bastards as I wanna see it in it's original form....as I too love this film!

yeah, i have the long version of thieves on a couple of different sources in my collection - all taped and kinda blurry/icky lookin'. i remember seeing the long version for the first time in the middle of the night on BET and thinking certainly something had to be wrong with my television, like i had a funky poltergeist or something!

The HMV employee announced that Under The Cherry Moon was in black and white. I said "that's fine". Hee... Hee, the clerk at my local store had never heard of "any " of the Prince movies. When I asked him about the titles, he looked at me with a smirk and said " I've never listened to Prince's music and I didn't know that he made movies." He looked at me like I was crazy when I told him that Purple Rain was one of the biggest movies of 1984. He thought "PR" was just a collection of videos. They did not stock UTCM nor GB.
