Its weird how you do go back to old Prince albums and suddenly discover how different a song sounds to you from when you heard it last, just shows the complexity and beauty of his work, i've currently gone back to Prince and Dirty Mind albums, and have re found the great song entitled - Sexuality - it has everything.

Funny...I was talking to a friend of mine about this...and we both put on Dirty Mind in our CD player....and MAN!!! Sounded as RAW and FUNKY as it did back in the day. I used to play Prince music every single day. Don't do that much anymore, but on those especially PURPLE days...its needed... smile And when U put something in that U havent heard in a long time...it wakes ya up inside!! smile

Makes U remember why UR a PRINCE FAN!!!

There hasn't been a day that I haven't listened to Prince since I became a Fan around Controversy time.

I would have to say that Freind, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife hit me really hard the 5th or 6th time I listened to it.

But it took a while for Strange but True.

Oh yeah that song really kicks it for me.

Don't know why but I used 2 just stop the album at this song. It somehow sounded rather farmilliar. Like a slowed down "Gett Off". Never liked it until last year. Now I keep playing it. Recently I bought the maxi single and there are some great versions of the song on that. I totally dig that 'dorothy parker'-ish mix. Wow.

A few of them would be:

Blue Light and Condition of the Heart.

Sometimes it takes the slow jams a little bit longer to grow on you. I love them both now, though.

And how about "ronnie talk to russia!"
It's hilarious, but I just love that song....can you imagine him playing that live!?!! Never happen!

Pagey

Pretty much the whole Lovesexy album, at first, was disappointing (after SOTT). I actually heard a fellow purplehead's tape right when it came out in 88, and thought it sucked. Eye No was just horrible. I DID buy the tape though, because I liked Alphabet St & Anna Stesia. However, over the years, I have grown to love that album. It is a real upper, especially when I am feelin' a bit blue.

I am not overly crazy about TRC. I like Everlasting Now, Last December, 1+1+1=3, and She Loves Me, but the rest kinda bugs me. The lyrics on Muse have been bothering me the more I hear it. I don't like comparing slavery to the holocost. Those are 2 events NOT to compare...they both were attrocities to the human race. The whole OTAN thing is just plain stupid. But I DO keep on trying to get it, and just let the flow grow on me. But so far, I am having a hard time not hitting the skip button.

I've always liked the Rave un2 the joy fantastic CD, but lately I've been playing 'Man 'o' war' more often than the others. I'm still at the phase of 'discovering' what great songs they really are. Sometimes I get stuck on one CD or song at one time or another also because of this.

So Anna stesia has 'touched' you. I know you heard a lot about that song here because it seems to be almost everyone's favorite. Now that one song I will play over a couple of times once I've heard it...just beautiful.

Anxiety

The entire "Come" album, basically. I really disliked it when it first came out, and it was around this time that I was just beginning to stop buying Prince singles faithfully (the mixes were getting lame, no b-side tracks, no more extended/unedited versions...you know the deal), but I managed to buy the "Space" single, which more or less just wound up on the shelf collecting dust. A few years later, someone told me that I really needed to give the "Space" single a good listen, so I did, and I was into it. So I gave "Come" another chance, and I've been digging on it ever since. I love when stuff like that happens with music.

I heard Rainbow Children in a shop I was in today - it was the first time I'd heard it since the 3/2 Chicago show last weekend. Sounded good, I have to say....

So, I guess my SHORT answer to this question would be: Space.

Hated the "Come" and "Newpowersoul" CDs as a whole before when they first came out. It definitely gets heavy rotation with me now! Too FUNKY!!!
