A producer for Prince would be a waste of time. Maybe a collaborator, but a producer nah.

This is a good idea. Prince does work well with others, as alot of projects he's done have shown. A producer? No way. Then it wouldn't be a Prince album.

And Prince's sound doesn't need to be updated. His music is TIMELESS.

I would've loved for RIck James to produce a Prince album, but i guess that wont happen now. If Prince were to go the outside producer route it probably would be a committe of producers, which would suck. I think a Quincy Jones, or Gerorge Clinton or maybe even Stevie Wonder produced Prince album would be better than anything in his catalogue. Sometimes talent just need to be focused and brought down to Earth.

I tell you what - since you are a Prince fan what don't you ask yourself what was the last Prince CD that you purchased and still continue to listen to weekly if not daily...and don't sit there and tell Rave un2 the Joy Fantastic.

That's absolutley right. Every time I buy a new Prince album, I listen to it for two or three months and then put it on the shelf. I seem to have been doing that since "Around The World In A Day". When ever I'm in the mood for Prince, I always end up listening to anything from the beginning of his career through "Purple Rain". Every now and then, I get in the mood for something after "Purple Rain".

There was a thread talking about the song letitgo and how it was the worst of the Come CD - but the remix version is excellent - to the point that I have people ask me who it is "it sounds like Prince but it's mellow." Well imagine someone (Dr. Dre), producing an entire Prince CD - That's what I'm talking about.

"Letitgo" is also my least favorite track on the "Come" album. It sounds kind of hip hop influenced but it is decent. The remix version is horrible and I can't even listen to it. If that's the kind of stuff Dr. Dre would do to Prince's music, it would be horrible. As for Dr. Dre, the only stuff of his that I can even listen to is when he was in The World Class Wrecking Crew. Remember "Thy Fly"? People totally down him back then but that was his best, not that his best is all that good. At least it was uptempo, which is more than I can say about everything else he has ever done which has been midtempo (which I can't stand).

As I said before Prince is a genius, we all know that, but still he needs to try something different with his style taking it up a notch.. He has plateau And the mountain top is just a little further up.

I agree he needs another style. I've been saying it since "Around The World In A Day" but at least his recent style sounds better than anything else on the radio these days. Prince's weakest work sounds better than anything else on the radio, including Dr. Dre. I would rather listen to "Karmasutra" or "The Truth" (two albums that I think are very boring) than to listen to the junk on the radio.

PRINCE IS VIEWED AS A MUSICAL INFLUENCE. PEOPLE CALL HIM A GENIUS.

HAVING A PRODUCER WOULD RUIN HIS CAREER AND SOME WAYS.
