Jaikman,
what is alternative about your Vikki Waiting?
I've always wanted to know if there was a long version of Vikki Waiting out there!!

Todd305,when you say the whole sheila e project from 87what are you referring to?

Actually Drummergirl, I am referring to her self-titled album which features "Hold Me", "Love On A Blue Train", "Wednesday Like A River", and "Pride And The Passion". In my opinion, it was Sheila E.'s best album, so it is somewhat ironic that it is the only one of her albums that I cannot find on CD.

I am unaware of a longer studio version of Vikki Waiting (he has certainly performed it live a few times). However, I'm pretty sure that when it is played on the Batman soundtrack (Bruce Wayne at home) it is a different version to what is released on the album.

The original Prince + the Revolution version of "4 the Tears in your Eyes," not the live one from the hits, dig?

My favorite "obscure song reference" comes from my all-time favorite Prince song:

"Marry me today & tonight we'll make love until the world stops turning.."

sinon, j'aime bien:

- "Les enfants qui mentent, ne vont pas au paradis"
(vive la langue française, ma langue préfèrée!)

- "I never would have thought that this would happen.. to a very careful man like me"
(ha ha yeah right!)

- "Damn the logic cartoon characters look better when they're on the run"

- "I took you for a ride, & baby I'm sorry"
(obscure because this is THE ONLY TIME I'VE EVER HEARD HIM "APOLOGIZE" on any of his recordings for anything)

- "of all the ones I dreamed about, you are the one that makes my love shout"

- "all I have to do is think about u & I could have an orgasm.."
(goodness knows, I used that line more than once when I was a teenager back then!)

- "all the things I lose don't add up to all the things I gain"

- "3-year old leaders of all colors, I'd feel safer with them in control.."

- "I'm unique in the respect I'm not you"

yes, indeed, the boy has had his moments..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Apollonia7:

I think the most obscure track would have to "Wally"... According to the book "Turn It Up" by Pers Nielsen, Susan Rogers (Prince's long time recording engineer) was the only person who got to hear this track. It was apparently one of the most emotional tracks he ever recorded (influenced by his breakup with Susannah Melvoin). She claims to have been stunned by the brilliance of the track but the next day, Prince started making it more of a funk track and much less 'personal'. After ruining what might have been his greatest work, Prince then ordered Susan to put all tracks on record and erase it for ever...

I reckon this must therefore be the most obscure Prince track ever!!

I would love to know more details on this track!

Tricky. It's a B-Side to a vinyl single by the Time. It ends with the sound of a toilet flushing and Prince singing the theme to the Tonight Show With Johnny Carson. No lie.

The original version of "Come" from the Glam Slam Ulysses show. Far superior to the album version!

"Sticks and stones will bug my phones and say that I mislead? I don't think so, maybe U should come with me. Maybe U should wrap U're legs around my neck 4 a while. Lemme see if I can make U smile"
