Prince's next album? What do you want? funk? rock? jazz? for the fans? or another prince-lite for the masses affair like musicology?
i personally think it's safe to say horns will feature heavily! I want a more guitar driven album myself but doubt it somehow.

I want a full band!!!
He raves about the power of the NPG on this tour and I agree YET he insists on playing all of the instruments himself

When I hear those synths filling in for the horns in the studio version of Musicology, I cringe.

And that's it. I must say if the rest of it is Prince, i'm impressed. I guess everybody associates TRC with Rhonda and Renato and Co is cause of The Celebration and the ONA tour where most of it was played.

I think it's got to be largely because of John's drumming. Check this song out at:

Yes, this is what I want -- more guitar. I love his guitar solos and I love playing it loud in my house. Bambi has that guitar driven sound. I want to hear more like that. Even how he ends Pink Cashmere rocks. I hope his next album ROCKS The Dreaming Peasant

Awwww. The older we get, the more we start living in the past. I just woke up from having had a dream in which Prince and the Revolution were performing in sumthing called The Revolution Revue, featuring The TIme, Jill Jones and Sheila E.

I just woke up from having had a dream in which Prince and the Revolution were performing in sumthing called The Revolution Revue, featuring The TIme, Jill Jones and Sheila E. Oooh! I like dreams like that! Sometimes, if you can catch what they're playing, you can get a song out of it..... (Although, doesn't seem quite so great in the cold light of day...) Personally, I kinda liked the direction he was going musically with TRC: John Blackwell's drums; jazz influence, but not pointless jazz noodlings (a la N.E.W.S.), etc. If he could lose the stupid Vader voice, and make the lyrics a little more personal (rather than just weird, dogmatic rants!), I think it could be interesting. Shame we can't turn back the clock to the Revolution days, but I think something like Emancipation CD II's songwriting, with TRC's musical arrangements, could sound kinda cool and contemporary.... Won't happen though.....! (And I'm sure some would say, that's a good thing!!) "Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced." - James Baldwin

^What he said, basically.
No mellow jazz, no full instrumental album. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

CURSING.
Lot's of CURSING and talk of vaginas. Oh yeah---easy and the jazz and no RAP. Other than that he can do a polka album for all I care--I'll end up buying it anyway.

If he could duplicate the rich sound of Lovesexy and the charm of OneNiteAlone with the zest of the Gold Experience that would be something I'd want! That would be titled Spooky Electric We all want a big hit again because
we want to relive the Hysteria & Pandemonium we experienced when Purple Rain was Hot. Actually, he doesn't care if it happens again or not.

I'd like an album with a couple of soul tracks, some funk, a little jazz influenced material, some rock and one track that's impossible to categorise.
A prince album. | |

Music that makes Purple Rain look mellow and lyrics that make Sister look like a church hymn. I want Prince to rock hard, get nasty and drop this Jehovah shit!
