pstarr	Which do you like better, Xpectation or NEWS Which is better Xpectation or NEWS? What do you guys think?

Xpectation, definately.

The first time I heard NEWS I disliked it, and I've given it a fair chance, I just don't like it.

Xpectation has some great moments, if he'd have put it behind the Madhouse moniker, it would have done the name proud.

NEWS.
One of the reasons would be: Eric Leeds.
He complements Prince's funk-jazz playing in a magnificent way, in my opinion.

I like News in a experimental/freaky moood.

Anyway if ya wanted 2 know its an instrumental album of jazzy / funk orchestrated music Prince gave us npgmc members in 2003.

Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Neither is essential, but Xpectation definitely feels like his own take on jazz, and while it doesn't quite sustain itself, it at least really swings at times. NEWS is just quiet storm dreck.

I never really get the urge to play Expectation.

NEWS however is a far more interesting listen IMO. A very funky albums in places. The instrument work is quite inspired in places too - particularly Blackwell's drumming.
