Musicology Limited Edition Double LP

I know alot of you have been wondering if/when Musicology will get a release on vinyl, and here's your answer! smile (Apologies to anyone if they posted news on this before me!)

http://www.101cd.com/Musi...Pre-Orders

What we Think

A funky return to the form we all love him best for - after the experimental oddity that was his last album 'N.E.W.S.', 'Musicology' is Prince back doing what he does best, writing great songs. Led by the single of the same name, the content of the album harks back to some of his best work while the sound remains fresh and contemporary - his fans will love this whether they've followed his recent work or not. This is a limited vinyl release, and is subject to availability.

Happy spending folks.

***Thanks also to Jimberoonie for sending in this info! smile - Anx***

i have one since last week. it`s double but not 180 gram. there is no picture cover but a smal sticker on it. it`s an official promo copy from "urban division" of sony music uk. some distributor lists a 12" with cinnemon girl b/w musicology but i havn`t got one until now and i`m not sure if this will be released or not. but there is a vinyl boot circulating - kind of an ep with musicology, what du you want me to do, dear mr. man and if i was the man in your life. i bought 4 of them one month ago.... in europ you will find them in some distribution offers...

hope i helped ....

Yoko what?

Seriously, why release a double vinyl album at this stage of the game?

Besides, the last (final) great double vinyl album to be released upon the world of music, in the age before CD took over, was Sign O The Times! Never to be topped as a double vinyl...

With vinyl, the fatter the grooves, the better the sound. So sretching it out on two LPs is a terrific idea. Back in the day, each side of an LP had no more than four songs.

Why is it albums (especially as small as this) go to double vinyl? Twenty years ago, this woulda been a single. Wha'coo? (uttered in the Mr. Magoo version of A Christmas Carol)

I don't think this is the same as the promo, it has a different catalogue number and the release date is the 15th (the promo one is already available)

I would like to know if it really is the same, cuz I got the promo, which is a cool thang, but I would prefer to have the "official" release with song-credits & lyrics.

bambi99 - that's true, although lots of albums had five tracks a side (Purple Rain for one side) wink

Man I love that warm vinyl sound - wish I had continued buying vinyl as well as the CDs
